Spent a month drooling over the Bak family of products for tonneaus. Couldn’t bring myself to spending $1k. Went the complete other direction. On Amazon, purchased the Gator ETX soft roll up tonneau. $239 minus a few discounts I got (Amazon employee and 5% Amazon CC). Paid less than $200 OTD. Arrived in 48
    Hours. Installed in 30 minutes.

Pros: inexpensive, looks pretty dang comparable at a glance, easy easy install and adjustments in the future, lifetime warranty

Cons: long term looks / hold up to use unknown, doesn’t roll beautifully, ie, takes an extra minute to roll up and roll down and stretch/seal.

For aerodynamics / looks / use a few times a month, I’m highly satisfied for now. Just sharing if anyone is on the fence.

Went this route for now myself. Went with the Amazon Tyger brand. Got it around Thanksgiving for 150 bucks and have been very happy with it

I was in your shoes 6 months ago with a brand new truck.

I ended up getting the Bakflip G4 from Amazon after also looking at those soft top ones. I was able to get mine from Amazon for about $650 cause bakflip also had a rebate at the time and amazon had a coupon on the item page. Yes, that $1k price point is a tough pill to swallow but it only hurts once and I plan on keeping my truck til I die or it dies. Also, I wanted more security when I lock my tailgate.

The one you bought was one I looked at, let us know how it holds up over the years

For security, there’s no denying you can’t beat the Bak tonneaus. A dull knife would cut through these vinyl ones. I don’t keep too many valuables.

I’ll keep drooling and someday might upgrade.

Hmm, I'll play the devil's advocate that you have already spent a good $40K on the truck, so what's another grand or so for a secured bed cover?

My thought process as well. My drive out was $42k TTL and like I said I plan on keeping the truck til I die or it dies.
