Lesson: NEVER get in a hurry when wrenching.

I was at the end of a timing belt/water pump change on my '99 with the 3.4. Late at night, and after a long day, I managed to stuff the wiring for the CPS behind the timing belt cover, where, it came into contact with the timing belt. My truck ran great...until the timing belt chewed through the cam position sensor wiring. It threw a P0340 and immediately ran like crap. I was able to limp home to ultimately discover this:

I am going to redo the timing belt, but I have no idea how to fix the connection between the cam position sensor connection to the rest of the wiring bundle that runs eventually to the ECU. I don't even know what parts to buy, if they are even possible to buy, to create a new connection.

I'll gladly accept any jokes made at my expense as long as they are accompanied with advice on how to fix this mess.

Any chance to splice in new section of wire? I'm guessing the connector is still good.

No jokes from me, because we all have made silly mistakes. That and I'd be a bit flustered to say the least..

I've got a new cam position sensor and a new timing belt on order. I went to the dealership to order the new connector for the sensor.

I really managed to screw this up.

I'm going to have to splice some wire into the engine side of the CPS. Then, I'm going to have to find a way to get the wire to attach to the connector that resides on the main wiring bundle of the truck that leads to the ECU.

I'll replace the timing belt, take the hydraulic tensioner to my future father-in-laws house (who will ridicule me) to compress it in a vise, and reinstall.

Go big, or go home, right?
