Thinking about adding a bug deflector to my 2020 TRD OR. Any opinions on effectiveness and/or brand. Before the "will look like an old man truck" comments, I'm an old man, so......

    I did :D

It really has no protection for the shroud, however my garage is so tight that it gives me a better idea exactly where the front end is as the center is up just a tad. my last three vehicles I installed an AVS ( https://www.autoventshade.com/ ) brand no drill and done in less then 10min.

Mine has saved the front of my hood for many rock chips.

Either use a "bug shield," or get the 3m protective film IMHO

I don't see the purpose of a bug deflector. I live out in the corn fields in Minny and I get a ton of bugs hitting my windshield full on, a deflector isn't going to do anything for it. When my windshield looks too gory I then take it in for a wash (usually only takes a week).

I had one on my 2001 Taco and all the POS did was collect leaves, sticks, and the little helicopter seed things. The front lip of the hood was in worse shape than if I would've never put it on.

I have one on mine. I live in the desert though, so not many bugs. It does prevent annoying rock chips though. I went with AVS as well. No drilling required and took about 5 minutes to install.

I have an AVS aeroskin II.
Since I've had it on, I have had zero rock chips. I usually got about 4 a year. I've had this for 3 years with no issues. I also like that it is a matte black and is textured so it matches my black trim.
It's not a look for everyone, but I am happy not having to replace my windshield once a year.

I have one. Like the way it looks and DEFINITELY stops rock chips around the front edge of the hood. Haters are silly. Buy one OP.

I find it amusing that people ask for opinions here and then get irked when they get one that is not what they wanted to hear. Gotta love the interweb!

    That is nice.

I like the look. I get worried it would rub at some mount point and damage paint.

You are much better off going some like this
