Anybody running a bug deflector for 3rd Gen hood w/ scoop that did not require 3M tape to the paint on top? About to take long road trip and want extra protection. Thanks!

I'd rather not think of all the $ spent :(
I have the AVS one and like it. Not sure about bugs as spring is just starting. My front windshield is peppered with rocks from the roads up here but I do think I hear less hitting the windshield.

Ok I see AVS has Bugflector, Bugflector 2, and Hoodflector. Do you know which you have?

Weathertech makes one, if you were local I would give you one new in the box.

21861 is the part number, the 'Hoodflector' by AVS on Amazon. It had the best reviews after a lot of checking. It has plastic inserts that fit in the square holes of my hood, then screw the thing to them. 5 min install. It comes with little plastic 'protectors' but they don't ever come near touching the paint. pics to come

I was leaning that route. Best reviews.
The EGR brand was pricey so I’ve been leaning AVS.

I've been thinking of getting one, but wasn't really sure whether or not to get it. Do they really make a difference with the bugs?

We have a few more weeks before bugs come back alive. I wanted more of a lip for rocks but they don't seem to do that anymore. I bet I have 50+ chips in the windshield and more in the paint prior to it.

Never understood bug deflectors. My dad always had them on his trucks and bugs still splattered the hood and windshield :notsure:

Based on the some of the responses, I think I'll pass for now. Don't really want to put this on and still have to scrape the bugs off my windshield.

Pebbles and rock chips are my main concern. Since my Taco is black I’m trying to mitigate any extra wear and tear on the paint. Any bugs this would eliminate is definitely a plus.
