Did a search of this site to see if anyone has found a good solution to the windshield bug problem. Didn't learn much. Checked out Amazon and found a high rated one by AVS however, seems all anyone is interested in is how it looks not how it works.
After 20 miles on the highway my windshield is trashed with bugs. Anyone found a good bug shield that works?

Most of them protect the leading edge of the hood from stuff.

Some may create enough turbulence to partially protect the windshield.

And if it did, I'd imagine a negative effect on MPG.

I would just spray some Rain-X on the windshield, which makes cleaning easier.

I have the AVS. It looks cool from the outside. I don't know how it looks from the inside. My windshield is too covered with bug guts to see.

I had one on my 1980 Chebby truck. It was the 4" one that stood straight up (vertical) and did not follow the hood form.....

It worked exceptionally well, however; at Hwy speed, when using the washers, the squirter juice was drawn together at the bottom center of the windshield....

The unit created a nasty vortex behind it..... I scrapped it....

These big deflectors won't actually stop bugs from dying on your windshield, it only reduces the volume of bugs hitting your windshield. Even at that, there are a lot of factors that are in play... Just accept that the best you're ever going to get is a reduction bug carcasses on the windshield. Just be grateful their not ending up getting caught in your helmet, sunglasses, or teeth while driving... Which is why I eventually went with a full helmet when I was still riding.

I added a AVS bug deflector 2 and I have been very happy in the reduction of bugs hitting the windshield. I live out in the country, about 20 minutes from the city where I work. It works and I was a little skeptical as well about how much it was going to help.

I normally wipe my truck down every morning in the garage. I spend a few minutes doing this every day and I don't see no where the amount of bugs and crap on the windshield. I'm very detailed oreinted and I can't stand a nasty looking windshield. I did rain x and again I am extremely pleased with the avs 2. I did take it an extra step and polished off the AVS letters. Looks a lot cleaner and only took a few minutes. Some people have experienced problems hitting the paint and needed to return them. I just put mine on a few weeks ago so maybe AVS fixed the fitment issues. Get one and you will be happy you did.
