Gonna disagree here. My dad's bug shield never seemed like it did much when we lived in Colorado, where bugs are few and far between.

Moved to Oklahoma where in the summer you'll find yourself walking through a cloud of bugs so thick you can't breath without inhaling one. And then the difference in # of bugs on the windshield was clear (vs vehicles without the bug cover). Hands down, they're very effective at keeping bugs off the window. Of course there will still be some, but it's a huge improvement.

I bought mine from weather tech, I think it was $60, and it attaches under the hood in pre-existing holes. It doesn't even touch the top of the hood, it sits above it. It comes with little plastic bumps in case there's vibration from the wind but it hasn't been a problem.

Had an OEM bug shield when i bought the truck. Hated it and took it off a couple weeks later. It vibrated and made noises at high speeds, and didnt deflect bugs really at all, my windshield was still plastered just as bad with it on or off.

And yes, mine did scratch/ruin a lot of paint in the front
