I had one on my 97 F-150 and I could not use the windshield washer over 30 mph! Was cool watching the snow flakes drift up and over the windshield tho! Sean

    Errrmm....I don't remember the name...but that sounds right...and I shopped AutoAnything.
Remember that anything that fits and 05-09 should fit your truck...so if they have a 05 model you should be able to check it with them...but it should work

I swear by them for rock protection-not so much for bug deflection though. I've never had a problem with a quality one rubbing paint off either. I've had two Lund Interceptors on two Rangers and have a AVS clear one on order for the Tacoma.

Brunes - Did you spray paint your wheels? How does that hold up against rocks? Any chips?

I have a factory bug shield like this on my 06 Prerunner recently purchased, and would like to remove it. Any tips on how to preserve the paint underneath these clips upon removal? Desert Sand Mica...thanks.

My Taco is in the shop right now having the hood repainted. The tabs on my Toyota bug deflector mauled the paint. My warranty ended five days before I brought it into the dealership but Toyota is going to pay $300 of the $400 that it will cost to paint it.
What a pain in the arse...

+2, mine has the clear tape under the brackets & no paint damage. I even took one off to check since it was on there for who knows how long since I bought the truck used with 48k on it. So going without one & touching up the chips so those don't rust all the time is supposed to be better? I think not. Who knows how many times it has prevented a chipped windshield either. The deflector looks much better than a freckled up hood from all the touch ups & is also cheaper than having the hood repainted every coupla years too. People who don't drive frwys, don't give a fuck or never offroad with anyone else ever in front of you don't need one of any type, agreed. As always, preference rules, mod & drive yours how you see fit. Nothing pleases everyone, lol. IMO red trucks look the best with freckled hoods.

Yeah, I think the added "clear tape" is the exception to the rule. It would have saved me a lot of hassle. If you do decide to get the Toyota bug guard, make sure whoever installs it uses some thick padded tape.

I would go in and raise hell. It was the Toyota shield that did the damage as a result of that moronic clip against hood design.

I honestly can't believe someone thought that wouldn't damage the hood. I saw in the lot at when i was shopping for my 09 and that was the 1st thing i said to the saleman.

Common sense just by looking at it.

I swear by them for this reason, but not that ridiculous Toyota design.

I don't like the way the factor deflector sits on the brackets..kinda don't look right.I took it off..I then looked at other pics and I did actually mount it right when I thought I did it wrong.
