Is there something about the Taco first gen that makes it a bug magnet?
Or just the (mis)fortune of my late night drives being in infested countryside?

Last night, coming home from work (filling in 40 miles from home), driving cross country in rural South Carolina, I thought I was driving through a rain cloud ... so, on went the wipers.

Then, the “drops” just smeared across the windscreen.
In a couple minutes, I could barely see & had to pull off to use the wiper fluid & towels/napkins to clear off enough to watch for deer (saw 2).

I then planned a wiping off party this morning before driving back early this morning.

I don’t remember it being this bad in the xB. It reminds me of the old 80s VW Vanagon I had, where bugs hitting the front sheet metal sounded like rain.

Get a bug shield for your hood. You havent seen bugs until you drive through a cloud of Luvbugs in Florida. They dont come off easily either.

What amazed me this morning was the variety:
    Identifiable still (am):
    Dragonflies
    Lightning bugs
    Beetles
    Cockroaches
    Wasps
    Flies
    Termites?Fleas?
    Fat, juicy, half-bumblebees
Small bat in headlight corner (gen 1, small rectangle recessed lights)
    & more I can’t ID

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Is there a good window treatment to help the wipers clean the bugs? I'm in the same boat. Long drive through swamp land and I can't see at night from the smear fest on the windshield. I use Rain-X bug washer fluid but it doesn't do much more than regular blue stuff.

Just pour some muriatic acid for pools in your reservoir. It comes in a plastic jug, so it should be fine. It also works great at dissolving the finish on your concrete too, so them bugs are good as gone!:boink:

I use the green bug wash fluid from napa. Works ok. Hard to tell if its actually any better than the blue or not.

We've had an unusually warm winter (no snow/ice) coupled with extra rains and flooding in low lying areas until last week. I can see this summer shaping up to be one big bug party.

OP... You live in bug country. I would think that even in dry years bugs would be a big problem during June-July.
