Here’s our cheapo $30 modified one complete with zippered door and mosquito netted vents for the rear of the cab by modifying a 3-person $30 Walmart dome tent- just by cutting a big T on the floor:

Has anyone actually seen the modified $50 tent option yet? I was thinking about doing this and was hoping to learn some lessons from someone else who is a true pioneer.

Hey all, sorry its so late in responding. I just updated with tent pics- see Post #23

I am using the RTT a lot and the
Platform gets used for gear mostly. We keep our expensive stuff out of sight in the roller boxes underneath. Had a couple weekends where we slept below due to high winds and lightning (no way Im sleeping in a RTT during a lightning storm, being surrounded by metal is much safer!

The modified add on tent looks bad, as if I backed into the next campsite and drove away with their tent stuck on me, but it works great for its mosquito netting, water resistance and for better privacy. And it was $30 new!

Guys you can do this with wire shelving and then it is adjustable. I bought the shelves to do my SB rear platform, but decided to move mine up front into the cab in a rear seat delete configuration. Reason in doing so was that way I could put a window A/C on an elevated 24x48 wire shelf in the back, blow it through the rear window and sleep under A/C up front. If I remember right you'll need two 24x36 shelves longitudinally beside each other in the front of the bed and a 24x48 across the back of the bed to make a platform in a SB, or three 24x48 shelves to do it in a LB.

Best part, use them at home to put stuff on when you are not camping! Get 4 72" posts and you have a shelving system, or just use them on the short 18" posts and have three separate shelves.

https://www.mattressinsider.com/rv-mattress.html GREAT RV mattresses. Anything you want or can think of, they can do it, and fast too. I got mine out of tri-laminate memory gel foam, as comfortable as what I sleep on at home. Any shape, any size, anything special you want it to do...and it is at your door in a week. I got mine to "gatch" in the middle so I can fold it in half during the day. Call them: they'll do anything you can think of. Get them to make you a spare cover out of nylon and then you can repurpose it as a bed for your dog at home.
