    Hey all,

First, let me apologize for the lengthy post. I'm looking to do some modifications to the truck and was looking for some input as to how to go about it.

Truck is a 2005 Access Cab, base model. So far all I've really done is minor stuff. I've blacked out all the badges, threw a brush guard and tail light guards on. I've got some 265/70/16 Duratracs on that won't need replacing for a while.

I've been on a bit of a hiatus from wheeling as of late, but I decided that I want to start taking some trips and find some cool ghost towns out off some trails that may get a little rough. I don't really have anyone to take these trips with other than my pup. I know that isn't the greatest idea, but I'm the type that if things get a little sketchy, I've got no problem backing down and trying to find another way.

Anyway, I was thinking that recovery gear will probably be at the top of my list since I'll be wheeling solo, so I was thinking about getting a front bumper that I could mount a winch to and rear bumper w/ spare carrier(?). I'll be looking into getting all the straps and whatnot necessary and was looking at some land anchors to pull from if there isn't anything solid around.

My next thing I wanted to look into would be getting a cap for the bed to sleep in and to keep my dog from wandering off in the middle of the night. I should have named him Houdini, he can get out of his harness and takes midnight strolls while I've been camping before. He always comes back before I wake up, but I've always been camping in camp grounds where there really isn't much to worry about eating him.

Next would be suspension. At the moment, I've got the original suspension on there and it's getting a little rough, it's about to go. I did pick up a set of '16 TRD Offroad struts and springs that I have sitting in the garage that could get me by until I have money for a lift. I do know that the '16 will supposedly give me 1" of lift on the front. As far as the lift goes, I was looking into an Old Man Emu kit with 885(?) springs, new UCA's and Dakar leaf packs.

Last, I was thinking about getting some type of rack to mount on top of the cap to store gas cans, recovery stuff (traction mats, shovels, straps, land anchor, etc.).

My main thoughts were that I currently work a crappy job for not much more than minimum wage while I go to college and it takes me a good while to save money and I know this'll get pricy haha. So I was looking for some advice as far as what you all think I should prioritize this list. And I'd love any input anyone might have as far as lifts, caps, recovery gear, anything else. My main goal is that as I chip away at this list, I'd like to get quality stuff that will last me a while and do it right the first time. The truck has ~123,000 miles on it and I'm gonna keep it til it won't move another inch haha.

Again, I apologize for the lengthy post, but I'd love some input from you all. I don't post much but I lurk and read the forums everyday and you guys always are on point. I'll get a pic of the truck and my hell raiser of a dog on here in a little bit.

    Thanks in advance.

TLDR: need help prioritizing shopping list. Lift, armor, recovery gear, bed cap.

Id start looking for a bed cap now. Especially if youre wanting to buy used on Craigslist. I got mine for 500 but i had to drive 5hrs one way to pick it up.

Looking back though, i wish id gotten the cap sooner, i absolutely love it (Leer 100R).

Edited to add: Welcome to TW btw!
