Build or Buy (a tune)

Finally in a position to more seriously consider a tune and the question becomes if I build one myself (via VFTune), or just buy one from one of the established tuners here.

Stock 21 OR MT

I'm computer literate and have done very mild tuning in the past and I much prefer having both the tools and knowledge to do things myself.

Conversely

I have no expectations I will come anywhere close to the quality of the tunes available around here.

So, buy the tools, learn how to do it myself, but have a lower quality tune. Or buy a high quality tune but have no opportunity to tweak or modify.

(Buying VFTuner AND a tune pack is not something I am considering)

 

I am well aware that an option is to not tune, I'm clearly no longer interested in taking that route (hence the very reason for this post).

As far as "buying stuff I don't like", if you can show me another midsize pickup truck with decent stock off road capability and a manual transmission then I'm all ears. Oh, and the gladiator has its own issues, so not that.

 

Buy. You will spend more on gas testing your tune.
