My 2010 was built in Mexico...My 2012 was built in Texas.

Quality seems consistant. Although, I'm glad my newer truck provided American jobs.

I'm working on buying a 2012 DCSB 4X4 Sport. If possible I would have found one built in the US. It probably doesn't make a difference but I would have rather known I was helping to pay for American jobs. In the bigger picture, it gues it doesn't matter to Toyota - it does to me though.

I thought all the 2012's were built in San Antiono.

Don't really care where it was assembled, I just hope all the engineering was done in Japan!

They are built in identically tooled factories using identical assembly procedures with identical quality control checks.

Build quality is going to be the same. Even with the best system, a dud gets through now and again, but there's nothing to be done about that. Toyota doesn't just drop the parts off the truck and tell them to figure it out. There's an ISO certified system in place.

Now, the guy who mentioned the quality of some Toyota parts has decreased...he was on to something...

Poor assembly quality would be things like misaligned hood and doors, or missing bolts (known to happen with GM vans). We don't hear many of these, except a few problems with Access Cab doors not latching on 2011 trucks, coinciding with the move to San Antonio.

Tacoma quality issues have mostly originated with supplier parts. Chirping blower was supplied by Delphi. Cracked driveshaft was supplied by Dana. Not sure who supplies the overhead compass/temp display or the chrome bumpers.

American jobs are safe. The San Antonio plant can't meet demand for Tacos, so the second line in Mexico is needed. TMMBC is a relatively small operation, employing only 680 people, compared to 2300 in San Antonio.

Wonder if some of the Texas-built trucks are sent south of the border for Mexican buyers? A TRD Sport 4x4 stickers for 415,500 pesos.

LOL, never saw the window sticker for my specific truck. Took a test drive in a DCLB, negotiated. A week later the dealer pulled the truck from offsite storage and I took delivery.
