this was actually the wife's decision...who am I to argue with her? She was quite adamant about me finally getting the guitar of my dreams. yeah it's going to set us back a little in the savings department but it's part of our tax return which is supposed to be for a little fun anyway. then the rest of it is going to paying off old debts which will help us save more in the future. so we're still on a good path to the house.

dude, I'm telling you. next time you bbq, throw some chips in one of those little disposable aluminum pans and set it on the grill over high heat while you cook stuff on the other side of the grill. you'll get a little smokey flavor in there and it'll be almost as good as what I made last weekend! :)

thanks man! I don't officially get it for 4-6 weeks. It's gonna be a real lesson in patience!

oh man, I love ESP's! I'm actually thinking of retrofitting my Jackson with active pickups to try to get it to sound a little more like an ESP. it already has the body feel...just needs better pickups. post some pics of yours if you ever have time.

I got my first ESP last year-had it shipped all the way from Japan. Their Edwards brand is only sold in Japan and sits between the LTD range and the high-end ESP range. Its got a Floyd with a 24 3/4" neck scale and 27 frets. I'm debating on adding active pickups. The Seymour Duncan Distortion in the bridge is already pretty damn hot for a passive pickup. That PRS looks sweet, BTW!

NICE!! 27 frets! Damn, that's awesome! How does the neck pickup sound being that much further down the body? still have that same warmth? I was thinking of retrofitting my Jackson with active EMGs since it's a base model and the pickups aren't anything special but it plays really nice.

GAAAAHHH!! I'm going crazy waiting for this PRS to ship!! :goingcrazy:

Realistically, the last few frets are spaced so closely that they're almost useless. The neck pickup is a SD Little '59 mini humbucker. There are no warm sounds to be had with this one-pure metal filth! I have a few more, including the one in my avatar, for playing cleaner more mellow stuff.

I'm another one that never spotted this thread before, I'll show off a few of mine. My wife was having fun doing some glamour shots a few years ago.

1988 Martin J40-MC, super easy to play and beautiful too, not many higher end Martins with a cutaway from that era.

1986 Ovation Custom Balladeer 12, finger strength require to really get this one to sound great, but even a beginner can make it sound good.

1973 Les Paul Custom, purchased in 1981 for $240, it was likely black and refinished. My main axe for 30+ years.

Note the sandwich 3-piece body (very thin slice in the middle), cost cutting move in early 70s that actually really makes the side stand out with different wood grains. Dimarzio Super Distortion, PAF and pots added before I got it.

Shauncho - That PRS is a beauty. I have a PRS SE and while it's not one of their top of the line models, it's still a great guitar for the money. Unfortuneatly I don't play it all that much and have been thinking about selling it but IMO you can't go wrong with PRS and I imagine that thing will be great to play! I've been meaning to tour their factory.. I've lived about an hour from it my whole life and never been.
