Shi%. You didn't say that before. I'm convinced. Forget the bumper. Get the AR.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winnar!!

This advice is what has left people paying 5-10x normal prices for components to finish their lowers into usable rifles each of the last four election cycles. It will happen again no matter who wins or whos' leading or saying what. That's just how it will be and who we've become as a nation.

Actually, probably not far off what the causation will be depending on who the candidates will end up being which will drive topics of discussion; illegal aliens or at least the discussion of may just be the cause. lol

Oh no I've never followed it closer than now.. But I don't see any republican making it any worse than Obama has, and on that note this country would be a damn fool (ironically quite possible say it out loud) to elect another democrat after the idiot in office now

Totally get where you're coming from. Worried what Clinton will do, if elected.

CA gun legislation has been the root cause of many gun enthusiasts going broke here.

I'm not sure what you took out of my comment, but practically speaking having the lower is the most important part of that equation. It is better to have it before either they are gone, more expensive, or prohibited.

I work with some guys from CA and have told be about the extent and ridiculousness you have to go through for firearms... Like some pin/lock that has to be installed to to drop a mag from like at AR

Yup. The whole bullet button deal. Ridiculous.

AND we have to buy a cable lock with every handgun purchase. Depending on where you go. I have a box full of them.

AND all guns must pass the drop test and pay extortion fee.

AND, now that microstamping has gone in effect, the list of handguns we can buy goes down every day. No new guns can be placed on the list. Any handgun previously on the list that has changes (Gen 4 Glock as example) has to be resubmitted for testing and have microstamping or it can not be sold.

Since no one has complied with the microstamping (thank goodness), no new guns are available.

Since they can't outright ban them here, they restrict until it's impossible to obtain a gun, parts or even ammo.

Sorry OP. Didn't mean to jack thread.

You'd think every shooting that's ever happened in the U.S. Happened in CA... Virginia where I'm from, had the VA tech shooting, reporter shooting, DC sniper just to name a few and it's still an easy day to buy any kind of fire arm

What lower do you plan on going with?

I suppose another way to help you decide is if the manufacturer of the rifle you're interested in does not sell lowers, you would have to purchase a whole rifle (e.g. DD, Colt).

You miss the point... it doesn't matter who runs, who is elected or who ultimately wins... we will see another ammo & gun shortage. It's inevitable. Allowing yourself to be convinced that it matters who win is only setting yourself up for disappointment.

I know what you said but it doesn't matter. Lots of people thought the way you did and loaded up on lower receivers soon as rifles could no longer be purchased thinking they had outsmarted the system. Then, the talk was that LBK would be controlled next and Bam! You couldn't find one to buy and if you did it was 10x more than normal. Then it was buffer kits. Then it was BCG. You see a trend? Then it was the ammo and once ammo was gone everyone bought up reloading equipment thinking they would load their own cheap ammo and had once again outsmarted the system! Nope. Bullet components became more rare than unicorn farts on a windy Wyoming day.

The point... it's an election again and no matter what happens or who perceives what items will become harder to find and prices will go up. Not just on lowers. Everything. I've seen this too many times to think it will be business as usual regardless who's face we're looking at on TV. Get ahead of the game now.

I'm gonna go with Palmetto State Armory, they offer everything to build an AR with the right amount of patients you can get some fantastic deals... Thats what I'm waiting on now, to get the parts I want on sale::: usually big holidays are the best times, this past Labor Day had some great deals but I wasn't quite ready to buy so I'm hoping Veterans Day will have equal if not better deals!

Just call me Nostradamus. Everything firearm related is on sale right now so buy it cheap and stack it deep. Fill your safe or your crawlspace with as many as you can afford. In about a year you will be able to sell it for 2x what you paid or just be happy that you own firearms w/o having to sell your car to acquire them. I kept telling my friends 4 years ago to get what they wanted when things were cheap. They wanted to research to get just the right rifle for just the right price. Then, once the fear hit, I was at the LGS with them fighting mobs of people trying to pay $2k for what would have been a $900 rifle just months before the horde began and most were buying to resell for $3k. lol

    The shit I've seen...

Availability of parts will be the main thing and should be considered, OP.

When the next scare happens, you may not be able to get the part you need due to people buying them up.

Doubtful a school shooting would affect the availability of bumpers or winches.

Touché winches and bumpers probably won't be banned by the government any time soon at least
