PSA has some great deals, for sure. Decent entry level build. I found the PSA's I purchased had a lot of slop in them. But that was my experience.

Don't get hung up on the one company that sells it all thing.

Parts and deals can be found all over. The last DD barrel I purchased only cost $250 shipped due to the online coupon.

There are 2 legal ways to obtain firearms not on the list:
    1) Live out of state, purchase the firearm, move to CA, fill out the exemption form and meet the 10rd mag limit.
    2) Have a direct relative (mother/father, not sure about brother/sister) that lives out of state buy the handgun and then gift it too you and ship it to a CA FLF dealer. Fill out the exemption form at the FLF dealer, meet the 10 round magazine limit.

    LOL. Exactly.

1.) Please wait while I grab my suitcase and move out of state and then back so I can get that Gen 4 I want.
2.) Scratch #1. Make my family move and then gift me a Gen 4.

    You forgot #3.
3.) Move out of state and don't come back.

My vote is #3. Fuck all that idiocy. I don't care how geographically perfect the state is (if you ignore the border problem and falling into the ocean thing) the laws and therefore the people have jumped the shark decades ago and show zero sign of attempting to reign that shit show in.

Colorado sucks. Don't move here. You'd hate it.

I live on a cattle ranch, when I'm at home I always have a gun on me, and since hogs are a huge problem in Texas, an AR-15 is considered essential. So about a month before sandy hook, I shelled out 1.5k on a Rock River ATH, a damn nice gun, and I've regretted it ever since. It's fun, but it's so expensive to have fun with! And for hunting, I've found that my bolt action 7mm-08, because its much more accurate, the bolt action keeps you more composed, and it can reach out to 500+ yards. Speaking from experience, I would rather have a bumper and a winch at this point

Rock Rivers are good guns. Good point on the usage, tho. The 5.56/.223 is a good round for what it does, but if you are hunting heavier game or need precision at distance there are better options. I wouldn't regret it - good investment, but also a good reason to add another platform to the cabinet. More is not always better, but more is always more.

Swap out your .223/5.56 barrel with a quality 300BLK barrel and you may have about the best solution for hogs available. Especially if you take it a step further and suppress it, run 220gr subs and a shorter barrel for mobility in and out of the truck.

    We're getting off topic though.

I hear what you are saying. This cartridge first of all is a man killer and secondly of limited use for varmint control. If I wanted a gun in this cartridge, I have no intent of imitating the military option and probably getting a lower quality gun then can be had from Ruger. It is a purpose built gun specifically designed for the limited use of the cartridge. Anything they make is good especially the Mini 14.

Build the rifle. I've built several AR's. Even the "gucci'd" out ones came in less than what a winch and rear bumper would cost. Watch slickguns.com for deals. Aero Precision lowers are top notch.

    Another senseless shooting. :(

Heart goes out to victims and families.

Unfortunately, politicians already standing on graves.

Changing my vote to getting the AR.

Heard about that.. I just don't get it, I don't think any sane person can.

Get ready for the media shit storm of "the scary black guns did it now ban them all because that'll help."

Unless you are a criminal, what federal legislation ever proposed affects your ability to buy a gun ? Well, are you a criminal ? I have been a gun owner all my life and was a cop for ten years. I want all law abiding citizens to have the right to own a gun....only of they can pass a back ground check.

    Not sure if being sarcastic?

No problem with BG checks. Saying I can no longer own something because a criminal used it is what I have a problem with.

Yes...am my usual wise ass.....;-) Sorry. I understand your frustration with that concern. But I feel with BGs, it then becomes easier to assert that guns types are less of an issue. Even though these assault weapons get the publicity because of the heinous nature of the crimes they may be involved with, many times more people are killed with handguns by people who should not own them.

No worries and I agree. It's a tough subject. Wish I knew the solution. :/

Back on topic. Sorry yet again OP.

I think the solution is with we gun owners.....anti gun types will never hold sway over legislation that gun owners can. When I worked, I strongly promoted Concealed weapons permits by as many citizens as possible. It just meant there were more people who were concerned about those who did not have BG checks.

Agree. But this is something we should probably create a separate thread for as not to derail (too much).

OP has a legitimate question and I don't want to jack his thread.
