How much did the guy leading the way have into his old Chevy?

Makes me sick how much we spend on our trucks.

    No clue. That's @Taco-Can son.
He's a diesel mechanic if I remember correctly and a welder so he did a lot of the work himself

    I haven't updated this in a while
Finally got the winch in and everything pretty much done for the season. Fuse and winch kill switch is on the battery

Hey @Joe23. Just came across your post elsewhere, and that led me here.
I have a few questions, hope you don't mind. How is your dual battery setup performing? How is it charging? What do you run off of it?
I'm looking into dual battery system, but... Since I tend to stay away from 3rd gen section, I wasn't aware that 2nd gen's voltage booster does not work in our trucks. Now I am aware of that, and it puts me in a kind of a tailspin. So... Since (allegedly) our alternators do not provide enough Voltage to fully charge AGMs, how do you combat that, and does it affect your camping, etc.

BTW, cool build, and it looks like you're have a good time with the truck

Mostly just runs the fridge and lights plus charging small electronics like tablet and phone.

I haven't had any charging issues on my North Stars. The stock alternator is still usually putting out 13.8V.

I don't usually stay in one place long though so truck gets turned on and driven.

For extended if I'm near a power source like in a camp ground I have a ctek charger to hook up

I've had the battery in two years now without issue

    Thanks
I'm contemplating proper course of action for me - not being an ovelader- just wanting to power a big fridge for a few days.

One more thing. That's a 27F on passenger side, right? How were you able to squeeze that in there??

If its only for a fridge, you can live on 1 battery. I have the ARB 53QT and run it for the weekend when we go camping with only 1 battery with no issues.

Yea, I bet I'm over thinking it a bit, but also plan is to get a 75 qt unit, and run a freezer on one side of it, because "ice cream is important while camping" :annoyed:. So... Yea
Anyways, at 3+ Ah, I'll need second battery and means to charge it

Edit. Again, @Joe23 and @llamasmurf thanks for getting back to me with some info
I don't want to turn OP's build into BS thread, but on the other hand I do appreciate any helpful info.

No issues at all. Fit fine

And I ran an arb fridge with the truck in the sun in 35+ degree Celsius for 3 days without starting and the fridge running.

Fridge is set to the medium battery setting and never turned off. Didn't bother measuring the battery voltage to see as 3 days was plenty to me given it was sitting in the sun being opened etc with no issues on keeping cold

Honestly haven't looked at this thread or updated it in a while hahaha. Doesn't matter to me. But if you need any other info don't be afraid to pm or post here. Doesn't matter to me either way.

I think second battery is best option because even if it does run flat you can still start the truck. Providing the dual was properly isolated etc
