    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
Tires, suspension and armor. If you lift your truck over 1.5 inches your going to want new UCAs.
Where part of the country do you live in ? Do you spend a bunch of time in the bush ?
If you you check out the suspension forum here and tires section you will get some good ideas to spend your cash on.

    Skip the icons.
Go with king coilovers and tc uppers
Dakar rear leafs and shocks of your choice
Skids and sliders plus some 33s will get you going

Why do you say King for the front yet shocks of your choice for the rear?

Fair enough. Was just curious of why so specific for the front and why that manufacturer.

I ran 5100s and 5125s for awhile and both preformed well until you got some higher speed going.

I’ve had fox, bilstein, sway away, king and king is def the best choice in my opinion. I’ve seen way to many things go wrong with icon

Buy old Toyota. Add solid axle. Lockers and gears. Add second transfer case. Add cage.

    Boom. Crawler!

I’m not a fan of Icons ride characteristics let alone some of the issues I’ve seen. I’m always curious to hear other people opinions and reasons on the topic though.

    lol

So, seriously, if you’re new to offroading, don’t go dumping a ton of money into your almost brand new truck. Hell don’t dump ANY money into it.

Just go out and drive it. These trucks are perfectly capable truck 100% stock if youre a beginner/intermediate driver. Maybe consider some more aggressive tread on the tires, but there is seriously no need to bro your truck out with thousands of dollars in suspention, max trax and rotopax.

    Just. Drive.

Maybe consider a bit of safety gear, and plan for where you go and at a minimum let people know your route, or drive in a group, it’s more fun that way anyway.

I get and respect where youre coming from but as much as i want to lift it to off road it i also want to lift it because i want to lift it lol, so i might as well get the quality parts now. and i would also rather "just drive" with a more capable off road rig than bone stock

If you are new off road, you honestly aren’t going to notice a difference except in the looks department.

Besides, the type of driving you end up prefering, you driving style, conditions, terrain, etc... will better determine the TYPE of suspention , tires, etc. that would be ideal for you. Icons perform different from kings and fox in different speeds and terrain, and going stright to icon could end up being a huge waste, despite the high quality of the icons.

It’s your money, but imo you’ll likely be wasting it.

Don't listen to these guys. You can make a good intermediate crawler from a Tacoma. The goal is low, big tires, lockers and armor.

I hang with jeeps on 35s fully locked in my open diff 33" tire 4runner.

Get a good 2.5" coilover lift with some flexy rear coils. Skids, bumpers, sliders and winch. 33s to 35s with a 0-1.5" body lift. Locked rear, both is better. Cab mount chop and maybe some firewall work to clear tires. You will hang with the best of em.

Honestly, though, spend your money on skids and rock sliders before that dope (looking) suspension and tires.

Would be a bummer to throw five grand at your shocks and tires only to post hole your tranny pan, or knock your rocker panel so bad you can’t open your door.

I thought the same. But a good suspension lift, small body lift and big tires have done me well. Everyone I know with armor on shitty suspension just drag all over. They get caught up on rocks, lift tires and lose traction. A very flexy lift, good clearance and nice tires go very far on the trail. Good driving also helps.

This is by far the best and most accurate recommendation so far. That’s why I was saying to not spend ANY money on mods until you know what direction you want to go in.

I understand the excitement of having your truck lifted and the desire to just click bait buy parts, just save yourself some headache and go use your truck. You will realize quickly what you need/want first.

The issue with “experienced people’s” advice is it will differ so broadly. Everyone has their own opinions of equipment to buy, etc.

It comes down to preference and application. If you don’t know what those are then you are going to be buying parts more than once.
