Is that brick effect cast into the exterior side of the concrete as well ?

the brick effect is pretty cool, never seen that, as long as you didnt pay more for it as most people end up finishing their basements.

This is cool. Can't wait to see. I know some have asked for floor plans, but I say keep it a surprise as we watch step by step turning into a house.

Yep it is cast on both sides. It seems to be standard here in Iowa. The 4 houses my parents have built and every home I've seen built in the last 20 years has the brick cast in the foundation.

    Interesting

I like the concept , my only question is how it effects the difficulty of damproofing / waterproofing the foundation exterior

Yep, seems pretty standard around here. My parents' house foundation walls are a bigger block style but yours looks nice.

Congrats on the new home, the recent weather has to slowed down the process. At least you go everything poured before the cold. We have been looking at building a new house in the Des Moines area recently, but my 2009 Lund boat and 2013 Tacoma have reduced our funds enough that we may just stay in our current house for a while. Where are you building? We were looking at the Johnston area.

    Updated pictures.

Second big issue spotted today. The garage door openings aren't tall enough. They framed them out for 7' tall instead of 8' like they are supposed to be.

Hope this isn't too difficult to fix. At least it's discovered now before roof framing/trusses begin. By the looks of it, it shouldn't be too bad but I'm not a carpenter lol.
