The only reason you shouldn't build an old truck is rust, I got to the point on my duramax where repairing it was going to cost more than the mods I wanted, so started over with a Tacoma!

I wonder why my frame wasn't rotted out since most of its life was in nj. Only had surface rust a few scales but nothing major. Its hard to find a tacoma around here thats not from up north and rusted.

If I could find a used TRD OR model with 100K I would start there also.
As long as rust wasn't an issue. Go for it.

Nothing wrong with learning and maintaining your own truck to sweeten the love/hate relationship! :drunk:

I agree with everyone, that it would actually be a good time to do upgrades and mods. I am at 28k now and am not gonna upgrade coil, leaf springs and shocks until its over 100k maybe 150k. I cant see messing with a fairly new truck. Until then, just gonna keep changing the oil and get new tires.

170K on my 07' that now looks like a bastardized 2012:

Going to gut the drivetrain the first weekend in October and add a manual shift FJ Case and inchworm crawlbox.

I bought it with 32K and took care of it the whole time. Yes, I'm modding a "high mileage" truck but I have little concern for it since it still runs like the day I brought it home.
