the short story. I have been looking through the forum and just decided to start a thread.
I recently have been working on building my rig and added a few things. Since i have bought the truck I have added rear bumper, spare tire mount swing gate, custom rack, rooftop tent. She has slowed down a bit with the weight and I am alright with it. Cruising is what I am doing anyway. All ready for adventure I took a 10 day trip and just got home yesterday.

Before leaving I rotated tires, replaced tie rods on both sides (bent one before i left) alignment, oil change. The basics for road ready. I live in N. AZ and took off up Nevada heading for Idaho. I drove over 1100 miles before finally getting to the Cascade, ID area and was cruising through the Salmon river area. I was not speeding by any means (about 20mph on a recommended 35mph curve) out of nowhere my truck seemed to think it needed traction control or something and basically shot me into the other lane. luckily there were no cars. I drive in all kinds of conditions and this was not anything out of the ordinary. clear road. I recovered and kept going down the road only for it to happen again. It seems to be only doing this going through curves to the right. It happened on my trip 4 more times. I tried breaking before the turn, tried coasting through the turn both had same effect. again going slow (slow enough to pull off for cars behind to pass me) Driving up over a big mountain pass i made sure to down shift for the hill to spare my breaks, I went slower than recommended speeds and it still happened. I am not sure what is happening, and it doesnt happen every time. Luckily it didn't happen coming home through Utah. it is dangerous and honestly scary! I want to feel safe in my rig. I plan on spending a lot of time in my truck. Is it the new weight on the truck and causing something as the body rolls? I have heard this "is a toyota" thing..? I am getting ready to upgrade suspension and want to do the front armor but am concerned.. any help/tips/info is gratefully appreciated. I love learning and building my truck and was so excited to get out on the road. Now I feel apprehensive and that is a bummer..
Thanks for listening and any help.

What size are your tires? When going with larger tires the ECU doesn't know about, it throws off the calculations for the stability/traction control when going around a corner and can cause the truck to make false corrections. There is a recalibration that can be done at your local dealer to resolve the issue. I forget what it is called, but I'm sure someone will chime in with the name.

I am having a friend help me with the VSC computer recalibration. I am still learning about working on my truck. Thanks everyone for the input. Gratitude! It is frustrating that my truck has not acted up since my return from maiden voyage. I even tried to see if it would act up on a safe road yesterday. which is nothing crazy just a fun road with rolling turns. oh well.. hope this does the trick! :) Giddy UP!
