First post on here. Wanted to get an idea for what your thoughts are on an ideal overlander setup is for a 3rd gen taco.

    Some ideas:
RTT: Hard top, what brand, weight matters, etc...
Sliders, wheels, tires, lifts etc..(what brands are your favorite, reliable)
There is already a lot of info out there on some of this stuff, but what's your dream build, what mods are you working towards having on your vehicle.
Overland trucks are built slightly different just simply due to the sheer weight, so I just wanted to start a discussion about it. Maybe learn a thing or two.

Not quite where I am trying to direct the conversation. Your ultimate or ideal overlander. You can't tell me your ideal overland vehicle would be an SR5 with 4x4, and a tent. There is a ton of really cool gear out there. Do you need it? No - but it's fun to think about adding it to your rig. That's the purpose of these forums, I thought? So ideally, what would YOU in your location, with the offroading you like to do, what would your ideal taco look like? That's what I am interested in. Everyone will have their own opinion on that, and I think it would be interesting to get insight into peoples ideal rides.

Sure, it's cool to dream, but that is partly why about every other week there's a new thread from someone asking what kind of RTT and snorkel they "need" to go overlanding.

Honestly my "ideal" rig is one that is simplistic, that only has what I 'need' vs. what I have seen on a sponsored youtuber's rig. For example, RTTs are very expensive, heavy, and raise the CG of your rig and that increases the risk of rollover, which for me, is not ideal. I certainly can afford one, but at this point I choose not to have one. It'd also be nice to have some type of canopy/shade tent, but I've driven on MANY trails where that would get ripped right off, so I make due with parking under a tree.

    My rig sits like this:

Mid travel Kings and uniball UCAs up front, 5100s in the rear with a shackle lift. 32" E rated all terrains.
A CBI bumper and a winch

Kings and Deavers in the back are what I dream of next. I day-dream of an ARB fridge some day, but even that is not high on my list. Rarely am I gone for longer than the ice in my cooler lasts. I'd have to spend like 400 years worth of ice before approaching the cost of a fridge, lol.

When I go camping, ahem, I mean "overlanding" in my truck, I throw my 4 person tent in the back and pack my Coleman 2 burner stove. And beer. Lots of beer.

But this is one reason (of many) that I don't have a youtube channel: I'm boring, lol.

It most definitely won't be a Tocoma.
Something that cost around 1/2 million and can transverse the world. Welcome to TW and good luck with your quest.

That is also a lift gate. It can drop land mines out the back below it also.
