We have been waiting to get the engine and transmission back in (and out of the way). First goes the flywheel with new bolts torqued in 3 steps up to 61 ft-lbs. We made the bar to hold the flywheel from turning:
    upload_2022-1-3_15-33-9.jpg

We went with an Aisin Clutch kit:
    upload_2022-1-3_15-37-54.jpg

then the clutch disc with the hub towards the pressure plate:
    upload_2022-1-3_15-34-3.jpg

Then the pressure plate torqued to 14 ft-lbs:
    upload_2022-1-3_15-35-24.jpg

Then the transmission to the engine:
    upload_2022-1-3_15-36-28.jpg

And finally the engine and trans back into the frame. Hopefully we didn't forget anything:

We put the freshly rebuilt driveshafts back in, put the wiring back onto the transmission and put the brake lines that run along side the frame back on:

Our Y Pipe is not in the best shape, it has already been repaired badly:

So we are thinking of trying to make a Stainless equal length version similar to @Roostfactor . He has been great about answering some questions that we had on his design and how he makes them:

Roostfactor recommended ACERACE parts, their pricing seemed good and they have everything in stock and the parts look great.

    $300 worth of stainless steel

It is pretty cold in the garage, so we decided to replace the seat bottom upholstery on the drivers seat because it was worn through on the side We bought a new seat bottom cover from ebay.

    upload_2022-1-27_11-14-26.jpg

remove the knob and side covers and then cut the hog rings:
    upload_2022-1-27_11-15-48.jpg

    upload_2022-1-27_11-23-45.jpg

New cover went on the same way as the old one:
    upload_2022-1-27_11-18-8.jpg

    upload_2022-1-27_11-19-51.jpg

Fit was perfect and the side material is a perfect match. The insert is a little bit different pattern and a little more silver, but close enough for us:

we started on the Y pipe:
    upload_2022-2-7_7-25-33.jpg

cutting the straight pieces, then squaring up the cuts on our disc sander:
    upload_2022-2-7_7-26-50.jpg

Every piece gets solar flux around the inside to protect the inside since we don't have a way to back purge:
    upload_2022-2-7_7-28-18.jpg

We tried to follow Roostfactors routing:
    upload_2022-2-7_7-29-56.jpg

Tricky to get everything to line up, had to take a few joints apart to rotate and trim, but got it to fit nice in the end:

We used some 1/2" tubing for a hanger:
    upload_2022-2-7_7-38-59.jpg

    upload_2022-2-7_7-40-41.jpg

Then welded a cut up and sanded bolt into the end to make the bulge to keep it in the hanger and seal up the tubing:
    upload_2022-2-7_7-42-27.jpg

    upload_2022-2-7_7-42-58.jpg

Then took it apart to weld it on the bench. we are mig welding it with 308LSi wire with helium trimix since we don't have a TIG welder:
    upload_2022-2-7_7-44-28.jpg

We used the plasma cutter to make the O2 sensor holes:

So my dad made the mufflers on our mustang so that they would be all 304 stainless steel and we had enough material to make one for my truck. Starts by rolling up some perforated sheet:
    upload_2022-2-18_11-56-48.jpg

    upload_2022-2-18_11-58-27.jpg

    upload_2022-2-18_11-59-10.jpg

We cut slits and bend over tabs to secure the flanges:
    upload_2022-2-18_12-0-58.jpg

    upload_2022-2-18_12-1-32.jpg

The perforated tube is then wrapped with stainless steel wool:
    upload_2022-2-18_12-2-39.jpg

    upload_2022-2-18_12-3-24.jpg

Then stuffed into a 4" tube:
    upload_2022-2-18_12-4-24.jpg

    upload_2022-2-18_12-26-52.jpg

    upload_2022-2-18_12-25-40.jpg

Then welded the ends on and sand blasted the whole thing, we plan to paint everything with high temp black:

When I was just a bit older than you, I bought a "barn find" 1957 Chevy, stripped it down to the frame and built a 425hp drag racer. The car is long gone but I'm still talking about it. Have fun and be thankful for dear old Dad.
