There is no reason you need a new driveshaft. Just replace them with OEM parts and it'll be as good as new. As far as pinion seal goes that isn't a ton of oil so your gears are probably fine. Also i've been driving my truck in fwd for the last 2 weeks, its weird to get used to but nothing bad has happened so you'll be fine.

hmm, might want to give the sealing surface a good look and blueprint it, sounds like something is fucked and causing the seal to die early

I'd take the old one since it's probably fine other than the carrier/u joints and maybe needing a balance. An off-balance driveshaft could maybe cause pinion seal life to decrease.

Also, for that hefty $575 price tag, you should've gone to a driveshaft shop and had them make a one-piece shaft. Eliminates the carrier, is stronger, and has a longer slip yoke for better extension off road.

You've been driving with just the CV's pulling the truck? What's the top speed you've gone with that? Soft accelerations also, I assume?

Good to know if I ever need to limp mine home, as your truck is as heavy as most tacomas will get, but you also have the upgraded LT cv's.

Also has less ground clearance and every company that makes one for tacomas has reviews that say its great and others that say they suck...not gambling there just yet

I've done 50mph. Friday I'll likely be doing 60-65mph for more time though.
Yes I have chromoly cv shafts but it's always the joints that break, which aren't any different than yours.

Hmm good to know and didn't realize the joints were the same, they may likely even have more stress on them in your situation then than with a stock width axle shaft and suspension setup.

They'll probably be "ok", but I'd carry a couple spares for the next offroad trip, current axles may likely have some excess/increased wear&tear on them from being used alone with the front diff to move the truck; alot more stress and force put on the entire system than was intended or designed to be.

Yeah I always keep my spare with me, mainly because if I break one it's not like I can go to Napa and get one to get me home.
