The rationale i've been given is, if we are going to have it apart already, why no do it so 10k from now when one of the originals fails (likely because its been apart once) we'll be kicking ourselves for having not done it.

 

That's always been my philosophy; Replace them while I've got it apart. I did all new coated brake lines on my '84 when I bought it, and when I had the rear axle out for new spring perches a couple of weeks ago I replaced the lines on it with NiCopp, since it was right there and so much easier than doing it on my back.

On my antiques when I replace a part like bearings and it's still functional, I'll clean the old bearings in some solvent, coat them with fresh grease, and store them in a labeled ziplock for if I ever need an emergency spare, since most parts stores don't keep a lot of stuff in stock for a 30 or 50 year old Dodge.

I wouldn't want to start a craziness contest, but I think if we entertained the idea...I could give you a pretty good run for your money.

I'm not really sure how to describe how i'm doing. I'm focusing on getting these last 3 weeks of school handled appropriately. I'm focusing on being optomistic. I'm not giving up on this truck if it bankrupts me. I'm annoyed that every time I plan something, three (random chosen number for emphasis) small things snowball into a big thing and all plans are thereby thrown out the proverbial window. Its getting old. But one thing is for certain, it keeps things interesting.

Dude I didn't even know they were that cheap...hell im considering getting a spare at that price. If you wheel, never know when you will need it.
