Why do 33s have to be cheaper than my 265s?

Why do i still have to be in school and travel a half hour to class every day?

Why do i have to care about mileage?

Why can’t i just make the leap to 33s already?!

Just do it, you have 30 min of moving to drive, if it was 30 min of sitting with short bursts of driving id say wait.

So i have narrowed my tire choices down to Falken MT01 and Falken AT3W.

Both in LT265/70R17E. Only difference is $50

I’m coming to the realization that i don’t really need the mud tires, but all the traveling i’ve been doing in so many different conditions, makes me damn glad i have them. So i’m thinking i should just try the MT01s and move on. They’re only $50 more than the AT3Ws...

I'm all for mud terrains, but damn those AT3W are some nice looking tires. I'd save yourself the $200 (assuming it's $50 difference per tire).

    Its $50 difference total.

I’m not liking the reviews i read on the vaugness and poor road manners of the MT01.

@XPOTRPR had good things to say though...

I just spend so much damn time pounding pavement anymore...and the town my school is in gets hammered with snow on a regular basis. I don’t want to hate myself if i go back to an AT....this is something the Coopers really did spoil me on. They did it all very well.

Your heart is telling you that you want the MTs because they're bad ass looking, but logically it makes way more sense for you to go with the ATs. At least those are some fairly aggressive AT and they have a nice sidewall. They still look really good.

The AT3Ws do make so much more sense in this application. They’re taller, better speed rating, better road manners, presumably less weight, less money, better tread wear mileage rating...

Now I just need to read and hear about their snow and mud performance...though i can almost gurantee it will not be anything like what my coopers have withstood

The Maxx are pretty much top of the line as far as all around performance. I have heard nothing but the best from people running them in the winter, and I can agree in my limited winter driving with them. Why are you getting away from them? Price and weight?

All good points. I think you should go with the AT! At least that's my vote. Which counts for like 1/8th of a vote.

I guess we shall see. I’d like to have them on before the 18th. But even that may not happen

    Understatement about the snow!
I miss the 4 ft blizzards on the reg.
My last year there I had Bridgestone Dueler AT/revo on my s10 and they were good, but I definitely tried to pretend they were better and sunk over the axles in snow up on one of the mtn trails.
Other than that the snow wasnt an issue for me.
