On my way home today I noticed my left blinker was blinking fast, indicating I had a bulb out. When I stopped to look, I noticed my DRL/Blinker bulb actually fell out of its socket and into the housing. Aside from completely removing the entire headlight assembly, anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how I can extract the bulb to get it properly mounted again? 20231019_173028.jpg

Really long tweezers or you’re going to have pull the headlight off and shake it out till it falls through the socket.

Easy. Long screwdriver or straighten out a wire hanger. Wrap the end of it with duct tape (sticky side out). It's what I do.

Bend the metal tabs in the socket slightly so it grabs the bulb tighter.

Yooo you're the man! I got it out with your suggestion! The duct tape I had on hand sucked with barely any stickiness, but I ended up using some electrical tape on a screw driver. I left a little tail at the end and was able to wrap it around the bulb in the housing and carefully pull it out. Worked great. I also took a small flat head and very slightly bent the tabs out to hold the light better. Thank you for your suggestion! 20231019_195749.jpg

I have a spare DRL bulb on hand and tested it with a neodymium magnet, and unfortunately there isn't enough metal on the bulb for it to stick. But thank you for the suggestion. I ended up getting it out with some tape on a screw driver, see above.

My brand new $89 Diode Dynamics brake light bulbs won’t stay in more than 2 minutes before they come right out again. I won’t ever buy anything from Diode Dynamics ever again and I’m taking their stupid stickers off my truck

This happened to me with an aftermarket LED replacement marker light bulb.

I ended up having to remove the entire light housing from the truck & shake the housing randomly upside down until it dropped out of the hole.

I then added enough black RTV in the right spots to increase friction in the holder & haven't had any issue with the bulb coming loose since then.

I’ve dropped the side marker bulbs inside the housing and I’ve always just unbolted the headlight…now I’m going to try the tape hack move!
