I've never see the point of bull bars. Are they for if you hit a tree stump head on? If you hit a deer with a bull bar I doubt it would safe very much on the front of your truck....

When I was young the bull bars were strong and tied to the frame with a solid connection, often stronger than the frame itself, like the Australian roo-bars, which were purpose built. Then over time two things happened - because of the solid connection there was more frame damage when there is a hit and the bull bar was actually stronger than the frame, and most people started using them as light bars or just for aesthetics, so they started getting lighter and flimsier, to where they can't serve any real purpose anymore.
So, the general consensus here is to avoid them. But I still have one because I am old-school and I like mine.

I have a westin e-series. Contrary to what people are saying mine is fairly strong and it is a good protection solution if you dont have tons of money to drop on a bumper

Do you live in an area where there are lots of deer or other creatures which you may encounter on the road that a bull bar would offer minor, if any, protection if you happened to run one down?

If yes, then consider the comment @Boerseun made about how frame damage can happen from a good impact vs. body damage.

If not, then go nuts. You can put all kinds of fun stuff on your truck that has no useful purpose just like a pavement queen that never sees dirt but has a $uper expe$ive fully steel bumper on it, which I'm sure makes the owner very happy.
I think of bull bars as similar to truck nuts, just for the front.

Another Westin vote here... mine isn't for protection (got it to mount the piaa offroad lights.) I could care less about the damage multiplier bs.

also... (dare I say) I :anonymous: like the look of them :crapstorm:

Wouldn't the possibility of frame damage occurring from a frontal impact be the same for a full on steel bumper as a bull bar?

I have neither, but I'm assuming they mount to the same points on the frame....

I ended up going with the lund led bar because it had the same blackIMG_2418.jpg crinkle paint job as my oem step sides had

If it's what you want, then get it and enjoy it.

I frequently have people ask why my Nerf bars are so high and angled. The tell me I could have bought better looking bars that work better as steps. I often just respond that I like them - I don't bother explaining the concept of sliders.

OP if your worrying about damage ect from some of these comments no need to worry about it. The bull bar is steel and is very tough and it is connected directly to the frame same as a bumper. They both do the same thing just the bumper is bigger and protects more of the truck. They both will have the same amount of damage if hit by something big so its up to you what you want.

The ARB Bullbar's fit and finish leave something to be desired. I have never been impressed with ARBs newer quality control.
