Anyone have recommendations for a bull bar w/ light bar? I was looking into the Westin ultimate led bull bar but the way it’s mounted doesn’t seem like it provides much protection compared to some others.

Unless I’m wrong (very possible), does anyone know if the Westin is functional for impact protection

I prefer to go with a bull bar because I like the minimalist and understated look. Thanks for your help.

Thanks TacoManOne. Those two have same really cool bumpers. Although if I’m keeping it economical and understated I think I’d rather go with a bull bar.

Westins, or any of those style of bull bars, are only going to protect you from rogue shopping carts.

Those will cause more damage in a wreck, proceed with caution.

Those are typically called "damage multipliers" cause when you get into an accident it will fold back and destroy everything in its way.

I wouldn't consider a piece of 3 inch tube bent in a funny shape sticking 6 to 8 inches in front of your front bumper understated! If you want under stated I would suggest looking through some of the offerings of bumper manufactures. There are a bunch that are surprisingly well concealed and would do far more to protect your truck then those flimsy cheaply made bull bars!

My truck had a Weston on it when I bought it, it was the first thing to come off. Absolutely no protection from an accident whatsoever.

This right here. You can see it mounted if you look at the gallery of their Tacoma shop truck. Also, as you'll see in that gallery, if you decide you want a bumper in the future, this push bar works with their new Covert bumper as well.

Thank you all for your responses, I’m definitely not going to get a bull bar now, damage multiplying is the opposite of what I want. I like the look of that CBI push bar a lot! Since I’m probably going to just do a bumper or CBI bar now, can anyone recommend other brands or a resource to compare options?

I’m liking this Tacoma beast bumper quite a bit. Probably will get it without a winch cutout and possible a heise light bar.
