Wasn't sure what subforum this belongs in...

Have a '14 taco, white. Some chips turning to tiny rust spots. Also, never been a fan of white trucks as my first choice, even though I've owned 3 of them now.

Considering a DIY or shop done Bullet Liner over the entire truck, full color change. It's cheaper than a new paint job, tough as nails and doesnt look half bad. Thinking about a similar color to quicksand on the 3rd gens.

Aside from maybe some extra weight...what am I missing for drawbacks? Anybody dont this with Bullet Liner, Line-X, rhino liner, etc?

@EatSleepTacos did his truck with liner and it came out good. Take a look at his build

I've heard from people that it absorbs heat, so if you get black see if they can put a reflective variant on.

Anybody have a link for a good roll/spray on DIY? Couldn't find one in the threads...I say roll and spray as it seems ya gotta spray to get door jams and places a roller cant get.

Is there a go-to product for DIY jobs? Raptor coating seems one you can add tint too. Havent seen many others, dont want the standard back.

The bullet liner folks wanted to charge me for the coating and then a separate paint job on top. Now what I had in mind, wanting a DIY tintable bedliner.

I had mine done in an olive drab green rhino liner. I'm still working on getting the flatbed done but so far I love it. You don't have to worry about scratching the paint when you're working on it. Once I start driving it we'll see how it works out, but I do have high hopes for it.20200731_214322.jpg

    Looks good!

Did you have a shop do it, if so, mind if I ask what they charged?

Looking at monstaliner, looks like a DIY kit for $134 (1 gal in each kit), seems 3 gallons or so for the whole truck and door jams/hood.

My local bullet liner wanted $5k!

I had a shop do it. It was about $2600 out the door. $5000 seems really high. There's a lot of prep work that goes into getting the liner to stick to the paint properly. I would shop around and see if there's a place that is more reasonably priced. Before I had mine done I was thinking of doing Raptor liner but now I'm glad I had someone else do it. Raptor liner is not near as thick as what I have on mine. I'm really hoping it will hold up well to driving through the brush and trees up here.

I'm way late on this post but do you mind telling what shop did it? I live in Wyoming and I'm wanting to have my whole truck done but kind of a lack of options here haha.

I had Rhino liner of Coeur d' Alene do mine. It would be quite the drive from Wyoming and I'm sure there are shops closer to you even if you had to look around the Boise area. Now that I told you where I got my pickup done at now you have to let me got mule deer hunting with you. :D That's a really nice buck for your avatar.

Sounds like a fair trade to me haha and thanks! We actually shot a couple bigger than that one this year. Was a pretty unbelievable year for muleys here!

If you do end up coming this way look me up, I'd love to check some of your muley pictures. You'll love having bedliner on because you won't miss worrying about getting scratches on the truck. It's been awesome so far this hunting season.

I defiantly will! Mine is way beyond worrying about scratches anymore haha. Tall sage brush has given me plenty of custom pin stripes :D. It's actually at the shop right now trying to decide if it needs a new motor. I'm sure my driving habits haven't helped with that much either. I'm not really nice to it and if I see a big deer there is 0 care for the truck at that point it's just get where I need to be as fast as I can even if that means some broken parts :burnrubber:

It sounds like you are just helping with scuffing the paint so the bedliner will stick better. And I can understand about getting in a hurry when you see a good deer.

That seems like a brilliant idea! Once mine get's old that's exactly what I'm gonna do to it!
