the factory hardware on the 2016 is too long to use without using lots of extra washers. What have you guys done?

You may have mixed up the bolts, one is longer than the other two. I just installed the tow hook with no issues. 17mm socket, 3 bolts total.

i have the short one that was holding on the end piece (not sure wtf that's for) and the other 2 are long enough to go through the factory hook and into the frame. the 2 long ones are too long.

That makes no sense on my end, considering the BP tow hook is thicker than the OEM one. Which would make the bolts too short if anything. Wish I could help more... Are you replacing the passenger side hook?

Side note: I also have no idea what that outter bolt is for. When you take it out, you can adjust/remove a rectangle piece of metal.

does this count as a rated recovery point good for snatch strap and winching? or just for tow trucks to drag your broken down ass onto a flat bed

I thought it was a recovery point, but now you mention it... I don't know. I'll have to dive into the manual and see.

was just looking on BPF page and its rated for 8200lbs.
might be fine for winching but not sure about using a snatch strap on it. given most snatch strap recovery points are usually rated 12 000lbs. anyone with some info? I guess it could depend on the truck but I know most full size call for at least a 12 000lb rating.

And when you're talking about a chunk of metal flying at those speeds...rather make sure its rated.

This is what I got going on. Passenger side. the factory hook on the right comes off, 2 long bolts. the new bpf goes on and is not as thick.

You have a different OEM hook than I did. I have a TRD Sport. I wonder if the OR has a different setup. Here's my OEM hook:

Boom! Question answered! BP should have let the buyer know that... And maybe even supply needed hardware for the OR.

Should be able to find them anywhere that has a decent supply of metric bolts. Also pick up some M12 washers as the factory ones are stuck on the bolts (at least they were for me). Home depot didn't have but a local hardware store had 8.8 grade bolts.

Should be an easy find. Fairly common bolt in the auto world. Shoot, you might even find them at Lowe's... But I'd check an parts shop first.

    Take care.
