    Hello Tacoma World,
I wasn't sure if anyone has brought up bulletproofing a 2nd gen. Tacoma V6 Access cab, but I wasn't able to find any thread on here about it. My question is has anyone attached steel plates behind the driver's seat and passenger's seat. I live in Houston and spend a bunch of time on the road and we have been having issues with road rage and shooting. Does anyone know of ways of bulletproofing a Tacoma? I am not a bad driver, I just want a bit more protection from gun play so I can get to and from work without getting shot. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I did see some pictures from a long time ago about bullet proof Tacoma, but wasn't sure if steel plates would help.

WOW, good luck in your search but it's a sad day in America when a US citizen is even thinking he needs a bullet proof vehicle to go safely from place to place.

It would make more sense to paint the Tacoma black and then run your errands at night. You would be like invisible.

I'd trade your Tacoma in for a Bat Mobile, but that's just me...

As a Canadian, I can't fathom this being a reality. If things are as bad as requiring a bulletproof vehicle for simple commuting, I'd be moving cities or states. Or countries. Stay safe.

    OP is good.
That guy only shoots jack -o’ lanterns.
As long as OP doesn’t drive around with pumpkins in his truck, he’s good to go.

So you're telling me the Tacoma isn't already bulletproof? Also the professionals:

I haven't seen a bullet proof Tacoma, so you might need to research the general concept: https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a16579760/how-to-bulletproof-a-car-feature/
In the end, I think it depends on a lot of factors, such as how much you're willing to spend, is doing this really worth it, the type of ammo you're trying to stop, how heavy your truck will be, etc. It's probably cheaper to wear a BP vest and helmet. That said, anything further you put in the way of a bullet will help slow its velocity down. I would take a look at the areas of concern and upgrade those areas.

I would consider moving somewhere safer, like Kabul. Seriously, if I was that worried about gun play on my daily drive, I would be gone.

People in here saying it's sad that somebody has to feel this way but nobody is pointing out the fact that OP is being laughably unreasonable. There is no place in the US where needing this is likely enough to warrant a thought.

Honestly guys I was being serious. I genuinely would like to know if there are ways to install steel plates within my 2nd gen. Tacoma for better protection. I don't want to wear a bullet proof vest. Some of the comments about the glass are right, but I heard bullet proof glass for Tacoma can be thick and hot in Texas summers from some of the stuff our vet brothers and sisters have mentioned they noticed while in Afghanistan.

I can't afford to move someplace "nice" and Houston is where I was born and raised. It use to be worse. As for needing it, I have personally been next to a shootout while driving on the highway while coming home from work on a couple of occasions. I need to work and help my family.

I was thinking about installing Wet Okole and hiding steel plates in the back with the gun holder under the seat with possible plates in the doors. If anyone has the Wet Okole seat covers is there a way to do this. Not sure what size steel plates would be good so any info would be appreciated.
