We had bulletproof HJ75s rolling around Kandahar when I was there a few years ago. I'm pretty sure those put out only 100hp or so. Never drove one myself (I had a aussie spec imported diesel ranger) but the guys I knew with them said they were dogshit acceleration wise.

I'm pretty sure a bulletproof taco would be doable payload wise especially in single or access cab.

There's a place in SA that does it. Maybe you can check them out to get some ideas.

fuck that, get 40 mosins, put them in a 4x10 rack on a swivel with the triggers all linked like a rifle based technical BM-21 MLRS.

OP, between your username and this being your first post/thread you can't be surprised folks here think you're clowning around and in turn giving you a ribbing. Either way, don't take it personal as we all (at least most of us) love our Taco brothers and sisters all the same. Maybe that money spent on bulletproofing would be better invested in a life insurance policy. In the meantime, just make sure when driving alone you wear a mask to protect yourself as well as others.

Shut up, like you wouldn't turn your tacoma into a mad max armored technical with ludacris amounts of firepower if you could get away with it.

Thanks. I loaded up on life insurance, and a good chunk of my money goes to life insurance. Also I have been keeping up with TacomaWorld for sometime, I just don't like to post online because most of the time people on TacomaWorld answer all my questions. That's why I am asking on here for suggestions about bulletproofing. It is something that would help me and maybe other people.

Also I am not trying to say Detroit or Indiana are not bad. I have never been to either of those places so I can't say. I am just looking to fix up my Tacoma. Thank you guys for the information.

It can be done cheap against small arms using steel plates. Glass is a whole different story. No more rolling down windows without a ton of fabing and extra motors and not passing inspection cause it won’t be safety glass. Steel plates though is completely doable.

I'm not saying anything either, but I am saying that if you are hypothetically building a crew for one last mission, that may or may not involve a certain volatile state, where people of a certain nation state are trapped, and may or may not be able to be confirmed about the sanctioning of such actions by said nation state.

I'm in you beautiful bastard. But we need a few more trucks and guys for the convoy. Ammo weapons, fuel and aircraft is already good, I've got you covered.

Fine, if his mom and your mom says it ok, you can ride with me. Just don't invite any aussies leaf. I'm still a human and wouldn't dare release those c*nts on my worse enemies.

Like seriously, I thought mad max 2 was a movie, not a watered down documentary.

ALL OF THAT WEIGHT. You will quite literally need to upgrade everything on your truck. From brakes to engine output. Don’t forget the run flats!

This is about what OP realistically needs, if he is not interested in wearing protection. His concern was stray rounds from highway road rage, which would most likely be pistol rounds. It won't make the Taco "bullet proof" but it will give the driver a measure of comfort against his particular situation, not against cartels with ARs or technicals.

This has to be an internet troll. His username is ridiculous and wanting to bulletproof with just some plates sewn in wet okoles is humorous. Not to mention having a gun holder under the seat. Why not have the gun on his person or at an easier spot to get to if needed in a split second situation? I’ve laughed at all the responses though!!
