Yea I would love to see Ivan diagnose this and do a video, this is definitely the weirdest case study of the year.

I don't think l'm looking at the EFI relay. The wiring diagram is shown on pg 3 of this thread.
The ECM has power from two other feeds and the power from the ER relay feeds the +B terminal of the ECM, like the ECM is verifying that the relay closed when the ECM closes the relay.

The reason I'm asking about the ER relay is I'm looking for a logic reason not to start. In the old days, Ford had a relay under the dash that would trip if you were in an accident shutting off the fuel pump (you manually reset it by pressing a button on the relay). Did Toyota implement something similar to that, that would keep the engine from starting? Something like lack of power to the SRS system?

Interesting thought, but wouldn't that also affect it during the bump/clutch pop while rolling, start?

There aren't but 3 relays for the 2TR?
At least on my diagrams that is all I see?

Yeah that switch was the inertia switch.
Had one go bad once on a Ford Ranger.

So I did my best and here's a little summary in visual, all passed the tests (highlighted green):
    upload_2024-10-28_19-59-4.png

Circles indicate what I didn't manage to back-probe.
E8 Pin 9 is hard to get to amongst all the wires.
I just couldn't for the life of me get the probe inside E4 pin 17 (Coil control, I guess thick cable), just too tight.
Any idea of another easier place to test?

The E8 Pin 29 (highlighted orange) is empty on my model, maybe a typo or a mix-up?
I looked up the wiring diagrams and didn't see it there either.
    Here's a pic:

Attached are the wave files, but I don't see anything interesting...

Well it looks like E8 - 29 failed.

I'd start with making sure it is "bad".
Unplug it. Use a test light on it. If it doesn't light up, then we need FIX IT and........:fingerscrossed:

It didn't fail, it just doesn't exist. Sorry maybe highlighting was misleading, see picture and post closely. Here's the E8 Pinout:

wonder if the J14 connector has the wire in there?
If so, I'd say you "need" it.

That is the EFI relay (maybe it looks like ER on the black/white schematic drawing), that is a power feed to the ECM. If it was missing we would have no communication.

05-11 models had a dedicated "crash detected" line from the SRS module to the ECM to signal fuel shutoff in the event of a crash, ignition cycle resets it. 12-15 models it just sends a message over the CAN bus.

Powers and grounds look good, we have no injector control which makes sense since RPM is 0.

What are you using to backprobe? I did mine pretty easily but I have some relatively small backprobes.

It's odd E8-29 shows to be populated on 07 and 08 but 06 and 09 it doesn't so not sure, if it's blank then it's not needed though.
