Bump steer?

    Then for-go the mechanic, do it yourself & then get it confirmed for free from an alignment shop! Took me an hour.
    Do it just like this:
    1) Install SPC's set to neutral/ position D /2°
    2) Adjust front cams all the way inward
    3) Adjust rear cams all the way outward
    4) Adjust camber, via ball joint, to ~0°
    5) Adjust toe, via tie-rods, to ~0°
    6) Drink a beer
    DONE!

    The biggest advantage to the SPC arms is the independent camber adjustment. The 3 position caster thing is kind of silly because everyone ends up in the middle anyway. That's why companies like JBA just offer one setting. SPC's explanation of how that adjustment works reads like a Chinese translation into English of a Turkish text o_O. It confused the hell out of me at first, and I actually understand how this geometry works. Most of the alignment techs are just trained by the alignment equipment manufacturer on the operation of the machine. They can't deal with the SPC arms.

    Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.
    Why so high on the caster?

    The taller the lift/tires, the higher the caster needs to be.

    Ya. I don’t know why I asked that,,, but since I’m here,,, I bent the tab on the front driver side front cam adjustment. Will a spot weld behind that tab for strength be sufficient?

    Or am I screwed?

    ADS extended travel, 14" 700 lb springs, Total Chaos UCA/LCA, Dakars. 37/12.50r17 Pitbull Radial Rocker. SCS 17" SR8. 4.56s with f&r ARB lockers. Relentless sliders, full skids, debadged. 35% tint on all windows. Katzkin leather w/ heated seats
    I put cam tabs all back where they should be and laid a bead behind all of them. Total Chaos sells a larger cam tab kit but I think the welding does just as good as the kit.

    So thanks to the OP and another bad alignment I’ve discovered steer bump. Yesterday I was looking at my tie rods and an epiphany. I’m going to flip them over to try see if I can compensate for my lift

    Too much beer! The rod ends are tapered. You can't install the rod on top of the arm without some modification, like boring the hole and using a heim joint.

    You know, sometimes "dumb ideas" are the perfect spark for great ideas. It would be great to be able to mount the steering rod on top. I'm not a fan of heim joints on daily drivers. A machine shop could bore that hole, and press in a tapered sleeve upside down. Then the stock arm could be used just as you described. Maybe someone with machining capability will offer that. It would be a very simple job for any qualified machinist. If we could just buy the sleeves, we could get the boring and pressing done anywhere.

    I was going to research that heim joint but it seems that I can save my time. Kinda funny timing on this topic, but I’ll probably be trying to adjust my caster at Windrock because I’m now rubbing my cab mount.

    Not trying to dissuade you but I would encourage you to measure first with the diagram I posted earlier. Putting the tie rod on top is what folks do with spindle lifts do since it increases the length between ball joints. It’s been a long ass time since I measured stock geometry, but IIRC, it bumps toe in, which means you would want to lower the tie rod, not raise it.
