Hey TW, long time reader, first time writer.

I'm installing my Dakars today but the OEM bump stops won't arrive for a week or two. I'm wondering if I need to lift the truck and drop the axle to take off my U bolts and install the bump stops when they arrive? In other words, could I loosen the U bolts while the truck is weighting the leaf spring pack on the perch safely?

Or will I need to put the truck on jack stands and drop the axle to unweight the leaf spring pack, remove suspension, etc etc. ?

Thanks so much for your help.

You should be able to leave the truck on the ground, loosen the u-bolts on one side, slide in the bump stop, then tighten it up, and do the other side. I'd only do one side at a time.
