So I'm new to a lot of this and have done my research. But need clarification on this before I order tonight.

Asked Marie about OME setup Vs Bilsten lift suggestions.

Confused on what bump stock is honestly, and not sure if the kit attached needs it or not. This is what she said:

The OME rear shocks will work the Dakar pack and not require bump stop modification or longer brake lines but they limit the amount of droop you see from the Dakar leaf pack. The standard length Bilstein 5100’s really should be used with one of the add-a-leafs or a block up to 1.5”. The extended length RCD/Bilsteins will also work with the Dakar leaf pack but longer brake lines are needed and possible bump stop modification but you get more droop from the pack.

So I guess dumb question, but is the Dakar setup an example of add a leaf? Is kit attached the standard set not needing a bump stock mod?

Fill out your profile as well so people know what truck you have. You also posted two “kits” so which one do you have a question on?

The 5100. I am trying to decide between the two basically. Sorry I was lazy and didn't include all the info since I had made a post already on it.

But trying to make a decision between them and asked her questions on it. I was lost on this part though.

So the 5100 kit pictured would require the bump stop mod?

That im unsure.... without the 5100 part# i dunno.

What i do know is an add a leaf and the dakar leafpack are totally different animals. Take ur existing leafpack out and swap in dakars, then sell or trash stock

    Id ask Marie to specify

The bump stop is installed above the leaf pack and prevents the shock from bottoming out and possibly blowing it. The Dakar leaf pack is a full replacement pack not an AAL. With the 5100s you should be fine without modifying the stock bump stops because they are not longer than OEM shocks. With the Dakar’s you really want to go to a longer shock though as Marie suggested so you can take advantage of the additional droop the Dakar’s provide. The reason you don’t need longer brake lines or modified bump stops with OME is because they make the shock shorter on purpose to prevent you from drooping too far.

Serious question, are you a complete noob when it comes to suspension? Not picking on you just trying to figure how much you know.

Ok, that makes sense. Why did she suggest "The standard length Bilstein 5100’s really should be used with one of the add-a-leafs or a block up to 1.5"

On the package in the picture, they are the standard correct? And why do the offer the Dakar option with it and I see a lot of people adding that instead of the all or block?

But I notice it too comes with extended brake lines on this setup.

Because they will technically work but are not ideal. When you add a block or AAL your not gaining any droop so you don’t “need” a longer shock. Because Dakar’s will droop further than you need longer shocks to accommodate. When the shock is longer it also affects the compressed length and this is why you “may” have to modify the bump stop to make sure you hit that before the shock bottoms out.

    Yes. Haha no problem.

So I've come a long way in just a few weeks ;).

Originally was going with with a RC 4 or 6in. I know I know, dbs get a bad rep here. So I wanted to do something nice on this truck so I researched more.

I dont do any crazy off roading. I hunt some, light trails, some mountain trips, etc.

I wanted something with a good 'aesthetic' look, but also a quality on road ride, with as close as possible to 3in or so, the right way.

So I've narrowed it down between the 5100 kit or OME kit headstrong offers. I've been trying to weigh pros and cons of each and truly understand the difference and learn.

The two kits listed both running the 888 and LR uca arm, just trying to decide on shock. I'm torn. And so how the whole bump stock thing threw me off becusse I havent seen it mentioned a lot with this setup. https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p402/Coil/Bilstein_5100_Kit_w/_Dakars_(HS16BK-1-Dakar).html
