Watched some guy hit my parked truck with his. He tried to get away, but luckily I stopped him in time. The ignorant guy even tried it to blame it on me, even thought my truck was legally parked. Never even apologized once. I got his insurance info. He hit the driver's side rear bumper in the corner. The damage isn't much, but I'm kinda meticulous and I've only had the truck for 4 weeks. What would you do? Report it to the insurance company, let it go, or try and replace it yourself?

This is an easy one, file a claim with his insurance.

Thats why the dude has insurance. Claim it, and get a new bumper.

Now me...I would be too lazy...lol Of course, I scratched the hell out of my OEM bumper on a boulder this fall on a trail...so I need a new aftermarket off road bumper right? At least thats what I tell the wife...

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
The first line in your insurance policy says something to the effect "if the insured vehicle is involved in any collision it must be reported to the insurance co. or YOU can be dropped from the policy!

Oh man that sucks ... I would at least call YOUR insurance agent and report it, and get some advice on how to proceed. Your truck is yours and is an investment; so keeping it 100% is important.

There is a gentleman on TW that has lots of great experience maybe he has some advice?

luckily the bumper is of modular design (3 pieces) so you can just replace that painted piece. Not sure if they come from Toyota painted or unpainted.

They come unpainted, and realistically if the damage is very minor, just that painted cap and not the bumper piece it goes over can be replaced.

The unpainted cap is like $78 or something.

Yea we had a few words, he was older so I had to keep my cool. He tried to blame it on me saying I distracted him because I was waving at him. Of course I was waving at him, because he was about to hit my truck

    Those are pretty sweet

That sucks. It's your call on DIY or otherwise. Could wrap it if you tackle it. I watched a slobby fatass finish unloading his groceries with his cart against my Tundra. I assisted him w an excersise regimen of tire changing. People!

Yeah contact his insurance and get it fixed no matter how minor the damage is. If it had been me I would of gotten a police report also.

don't those new 16 bumpers come in 3 pieces? i wouldn't get an accident on the car history over it. Should see if the guy will pay to get that little part sprayed, its be less then his deductible and keep the claim off your trucks history!
