One thing I really like about the Chevys we use at work is the steps on either side of the rear bumper. I think all the time about trying to put one on my Taco. Does anyone have any insight as to whether I could get one to fit or if there's a decent aftermarket bumper with those steps?

I think for some, the BSM sensors are right about where you’d want those steps.

Not what you're asking and the height may make the function slightly different but....for a temporary solution have you thought to buying one of those OEM hidden steps that hide behind/under the rear bumper? Only until you figure out a more permanent solution ofcourse.

Honestly, I didn't even know it was an option. I'll have to grab one and see how I like it

Damnit, I was coming here just to say that. If you have the blind spot monitors, the big square sensors are right there on the corners.

I don't think I have any sensors back there.

Third gen is 2016+, so pre-16... But basically, that cool step is right where that giant $800 sensor would be, if you paid for it.

If that's all I needed, the oem would suffice. But you can't use that step when the gate is down.

Really? You think that is a lot of money? It's actually only $50 for the step, $130 for the articulation feature and $100 for corrosion resistance that lets you bolt it on drive through salt, snow and sand for 10 years and keep working. You'll have a heart attack if you price an aftermarket steel bumper.

BTW there is only one bed step, the AMP Research bed step. They supply Toyota as well as selling it through AMP Research
