Ok guys, I’ve been driving around town, and have seen a bunch of Colorado ZR2’s. The stock bumper on those looks really sick.

My question is if it’s a good idea to try and duplicate that bumper style on my Tacoma. Will it look cool? Or will I ruin a perfectly good bumper?

Because I have a base 2wd, the bumper cover is the black plastic, with no fog lights, so I’m assuming it’s just a simple trace and cut. Need opinions!

I mocked up how it could look, with my very limited photoshop skills...

Honestly, dude, there are a whole bunch of bumper manufacturers here on TW. If you just go to the Vendor subforum and check them out, you will find something you like.

    Oh, and welcome to TW!

Unless you cut it just right, i think the aluminum crash bar would be showing on the sides and i dont think that'd look too appealing. Could always paint it black though i suppose

I didn’t just cut mine off but here is an idea of a trimmed stock bumper to fit around a custom winch mount I made. This is on my ‘13 D6A56A50-0D36-48B3-A87F-7D29D025B952.jpg

And here is a pic of the winch mount on my brothers ‘09 after I replaced it with a brute force hybrid on my truck. Personally I feel the lines on the pre’12 front end change are better for a project like this

    Don’t do it.

Just like raptor lights in the grille. It doesn’t work on a Tacoma. It works on a raptor.

All gens of tacoma have something special going for them.

1st gens have raw toughness and are a some style.

2nd gens have way more power, better road handling

3rd gens have a quick release rear axle
