Bumper rusting on an 10

I have had my taco not less than a year and the rear chrome bumper is rusting already. It gets washed and waxed regularly. Has anyone had this and is it covered under the warranty?

 

your not the first but its covered under warranty.dont let the dealer screw you around

Saw rust on mine within the first week I had my 2010, almost crapped myself. I never took it back to the dealer but I used a magic eraser with a little water and alot of elbow grease and it came off and never came back. Dont know what caused it, i did wash it with a local car wash system due to it being in the winter, I just wanted to get the salt off it. If it would of happened again I would of took it back but never again and I looked at that bumper a thousand times a day and still none. Who knows though.

 

My 2010 access cab had lil specks of rust on the rear chrome bumper..I was mortified since i regularilly washed and waxed it. I also had the dealer do the rust protection with a lifetime warrenty..Well needless to say I took it to the dealer and had it replaced. Managed to get a colour matched bumper instead which I prefer. So I'm happy..On a side not had them inspect the underbody..A bit of rust showing and they are going to do touch ups for me in the fall..

hi everybody, my first post.my dealer has said that if it is just surface rust toyota canada may not cover it. I told them that i would be back every day until they do. I'm waiting to see the service manager tomorrow.

I did, after some lady ran into the back end. (Black bumper)

When it gets scratched or messed up now, all I need is a spray can

 

I tried this yesterday on my 2011. They said no because the warranty only covers what is on the truck and they will not change the parts. I told them I would be back probably every 3 months to get a new one "becasue it is under warranty". They ordered me the "updated" chrome bumber. They said it will not rust. We will see.

 

service manager ordered me a new bumper today. he wouldn't get me the coloured one though. said the same thing, had to order the same that is on the truck.

 

Dealer got me a black bumper to replace the rusting chrome one under warranty

I was one minute away from driving my demo'd 2010 crew cab off the lot when I also noticed rust on the bumper upon further inspection turned out the bumper was puushed in and dented ( which was completley unknown to the salesperson who was demo'ing it........yeah right!). Before I bought the truck I had them replace the bumper which they orderd in and painted black.So I would say I sort of lucked out.

 

I just paid about $175 with tax locally.

 

No offence to anyone, but besides the one guy. Get yourself out there and do work! Chrome bumpers are going to rust, specialy if you live in an area where they salt alot. Get yourself some rubbing compound, and use some elbow grease. Then a nice coat of wax. Mine is like a mirror, I do it once a year.
