I bought it for my 2006 to replace a busted one that I had soldered to death, then traded in the car for my 2015 before I had a chance to install it. Folks have done conversions...I've seen them on TW, so there's probably a write up somewhere.

    Unit looks like this...

Might be cheaper to let a body shop have it. I got mine from a salvage yard it it needed respraying. Still cheaper than a new one.

OK. Can you give me until the morning to research a bit to see what else I need to make this work on my Tacoma?

Thank you for holding the part. I am going to have to pass right now. The task of fitting everything and making it work does not bother me and the additional parts I might need does not seem too bad but I do not have an overhead console that will fit the unit and if I bought one I am not convinced it would not come with a unit already in it. I even thought about finding a place to try to "fit" the unit into but if I can't figure out exactly what my plan might be then the best thing to do is to pass right now. I will continue to research for a bit and if I can come up with a plan I think will work I will be back in touch to see if it is still available. Thanks again for working with me. Good luck with the sale. If nothing else it provides you a few free bumps to keep the sale thread active.

No worries at all. Yeah, the overhead console is a pretty expensive unit to buy from a dealer. Interesting that the electronic piece is not as costly. Good luck if you do end up giving it a go.

I appreciate it. I can't believe a $34K vehicle did not come with an outside temp display standard. I like to have that info especially considering that where I live frequently changes between above and below freezing temps so I am not looking to use the display to show people how hot or cold it is but to figure out when the roads are about to freeze. I will figure out a way to get a temp display in the truck but as of yet I have not found a decent looking display that I can use. I was excited momentarily when I found an Amazon listing for a temp/voltage display that would fit into the standard Tacoma gauge openings but it seems to only be available in Celsius.

Honestly, the best way I've seen thus far is by installing a rearview mirror with temp display in it. There's a TW member (Bob, something) that sells them with the wiring harness to make install a breeze. I have one in my truck that I got off eBay and it's awesome. Maybe give it a look.

    This^^^

I did the mirror install on my 2014 and it was a breeze. I'd do it on my 2015 but I already have a homelink mirror.

I appreciate the suggestion and I have seriously considered it. But I will be the first to admit my hesitancy is my own OCD fault. I do not like the looks of the little window in the mirror and prefer to have a "clean" appearance. There are some mirrors that do have the floating temp and compass as well as the back up screen that only show up when you want to see them. I considered this option as well and almost bought a used mirror on the TW sale forums but the price was just a bit more than I really wanted to spend. I do not have a garage so the homelink does nothing for me and the idea of a self dimming mirror is great but I am not sure how well they really work. After careful consideration it just doesn't quite make enough sense to take that route. Ideally I would like to see the new product just now available on Amazon be in fahrenheit. If it was I would buy it in a second and move some switches around and install it under the radio but right now that is not even an option. Maybe soon it will be....

You can just get and over head console from a junk yard. Try car-parts.com. They usually have them on there for $100 or so.

It's under front console. And then there's a bunch of choices and it's Second or 3rd one down starts with roof.
