I just wanted the WL and the Hunter since those are the 2 classes I main. Just leveled my second WL to 290 (which makes it easy with leftover items from the first WL). I'll start a Hunter later but I'm burnt out on doing the story mission again right now. I bought the Lord Saladin figure just because I thought it looked cool. And then the Ghost because I'd never seen a good one out there. The fact that it lights up is really cool. I wanted the ones that I got just because they were a throwback to D1 and a game I spent a whole lot of time in with the characters I played. I never really got into the Titan for some reason? I had a Titan in D1 and he actually had the highest K/D of all my characters but I just didn't enjoy the playstyle. Don't know why?

 

I agree. That's why there are three different characters I suppose. One for everyone and every playstyle that you personally like. I'm not happy with the changes to the hunter since I abused shadestep like a motherfucker. Having it on such a long timer sucks. I love the Icarus Dash on the WL though and it gets me out of trouble all the time and is on an 8 sec cooldown. And the Rat King is just awesome with the invis upon a kill / reload. Not great for PvP but a lot of fun to use.

 

We were going to finish the raid tonight but we are missing a few so it looks like Trials all night. We'll see how that goes since it's on a map I've never played.

 

Unfortunately you have to finish the campaign before you get your sparrow or a new ship. I've been really lucky and have gotten 3 exotic ships, 3 exotic sparrows, and 2 exotic emotes.

 

Yup. That was one of the reasons I got the second WL leveled to 20 in a day. Then had enough armor / weapons in the vault to get him to 286. I did that with D1 also with two WL's. Made leveling simple and allowed me to build each character the way I wanted since I could run the same Raid, NF, Trials, etc... and just switch armor / weapons back and forth to create the build I wanted.

 

Except bungie implemented a mechanic to not allow you to level your character higher if they are the same class.


If you level a different class you will 100% get above your original class by 5-10 power just through story

 

I'm not sure I understand? Running 2 WL's lets me just move armor and weapons over from my main. Storyline got me to 19 and I had to do a couple of public events to hit 20. Once I hit 20 I just moved my armor sets / weapon sets that I had been saving and now my main is 294 and the secondary is 292? Now I just farm public events with the higher power level character and move armor / weapons back and forth. I can also run the raid, NF, trials, etc... twice a week since both of my characters are higher level. Cheating the system a little bit but it works.

I'm going to start a Hunter soon. The Titan just doesn't appeal to me so I'll main 2 WL's like I did in D1.

 

So was lucky enough to pull this out of the raid.

 

Lot of new stuff to do. Lot of changes to the game which is mostly for the better. It's been out for 2 weeks now and one of my characters is 300 (if I put on the right equipment) and the other is 290. The raid is a lot of fun and so far I've gotten some pretty good loot out of it.

The 265 - 280 hump sucks but after that it gets pretty easy to level.

 

My only advice is do not burn mods until you hit 280 because you will need them (and a fuck ton of glimmer). That way you can either buy or craft legendary mods which will automatically level up your piece by 5 power levels. Also do not just randomly dismantle blue engrams (especially once you hit 280). Since your armor / weapons will be falsely leveled up by 5 due to the mod the starting base of that piece will be the reference point. So if you have a 283 weapon and you get a 280 blue to drop then you can infuse it into your 283 weapon to make it a 285. Also Kinetic damage mods seem to be the hardest to craft. RNG at work strong there lol. Don't do this the other way around unless you just happen to really need a piece. I accidentally dismantled a piece before looking to see that it had a legendary mod on it which actually dropped my power level due to the loss of the mod.

 

Oh... and I run a 4 - 4 - 7 build unless I'm running the Mida / Mida Mini combo then I up my resilience and recovery since the mobility is an intrinsic perk with the Mida / Mini Mida combo.

 

Yeah, don't fall into the D1 mindset. It's changed a lot. But as you go through the game you'll learn. Crafting Mods will help more than anything with leveling your character once you hit 280 and you'll just have to farm for exotics or do the raid or trials. Buy a bunch of medallions from Eververse (they are cheap and you'll get plenty of bright engrams) because they act much like the ToC's. I just run around now doing public events and get an exotic around 1 in 10 events. But it's a quick way to get armor / weapons rather than grinding strikes since a strike could take up to 20 mins if your rando team sucks whereas you can finish a public event within 5 mins tops.
