Bungie's Destiny

Yea man originally I had three characters leveled up before the first expansion on the box. To go through all that again just seems exhausting already having to do it once. We will see...you going to get any other games?

 

I’d do it. Well I did do it! It’s not that bad.

Nothing right away. Finished RDR2 which was really good. Might try the online. Then this forum has me convinced to get anthem when it comes out. But until then destiny. Would be nice to max a character. I haven’t done that since D1.

 

If I had to do it all again right now? There is no way I could run another character up from scratch. Hell... It took me a month just to build up the ambition to run my WL through Forsaken and that was the best expansion that Bungie has ever put out in my opinion. The thought of running a character from the start of D2, through CoO, and Warmind would be too much for me (personally) to take because they sucked so bad. That said... I've played from the start so everything was new so it didn't suck "quite" as bad.

I'll put it this way. I main'd two WL's and one Titan in D1. After two years I deleted one of the WL's and started a Hunter from scratch so I could compete in Trials at the time. It never bothered me leveling up all my characters or even deleting one that had more than 1500 hours played on it to start another class. But I barely worked up enough ambition to run a second character through what I consider the best content that Bungie has created. Forget the Titan... That poor guy is stuck at like 535 IIRC (it's been a damn long time since I've played him).

This is just my personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt because each person is different. If I were in your shoes, these are the questions I'd have to ask myself. How interested am I in playing a game that there seems to be so much controversy in? How much time and effort am I going to put toward a game that is, at times, so volatile that it may not even be around at the end of next year? Am I willing, after looking at the roadmap that they have laid out for the following year, to think that I'm going to enjoy that content? Am I going to be a casual player that doesn't really give a shit about the total state of the game at any given time.
I think the answer to the last question should be the gauge you use when deciding to play this game. If you are a hardcore player like myself then I don't think you will like it. You will like certain parts of it but taken as a whole... you won't. If you plan on just playing casually then yes... you may very well love this game. If you just want to pick up a controller and shoot shit in the face it's right there for you to do.

That is how I would personally decide for myself if I were in your shoes.

I agree. Please don't just take "my" word for it. If you do that, you're only getting one hardcore player's perspective and that most likely isn't indicative of an entire community as a whole. I think people that play casually aren't bothered at all by the complaints that I bring up. I'm mean, in the end... it's just a video game we're talking about here lol. But... when you treat it like a hobby you become invested in the game, the direction, and long term survival of the brand. And the people that do play hardcore are upset right now.
And I agree... if he decides to start the game, at the very least finish through Forsaken and everything it has to offer. That was the pinnacle of Destiny in my personal opinion.

 

Turns out I haven’t really played D2 as much as I thought.

I appreciate both of you guys with your perspectives. I assume playing through all of the content would likely accelerate the process, but damn man just remembering the weekly grind to level up and man I just don’t know if I would have the energy to do it especially with fallout, red dead, and some other games on the cusp of coming out. That said, I can fire it up and see how I do.

 

Even though this is the Destiny thread Anthem has been brought up by me and a few others here recently. This is the way to be transparent about your game.



This is an alpha build and they are still willing to show it off to the world (bugs and all). If you want to skip the gameplay just jump forward to the end for the Q&A. Dedicated MOTHERFUCKING servers!!! The one thing that players have been crying about throughout Destiny's life cycle that has never come to pass. Since that has never come to pass you have a certain amount of lag within Destiny that you can not control without dedicated servers. Anthem will have dedicated servers so there will be no lag. "If" they ever decide to bring PvP to Anthem then that is pretty fucking huge.

 

Playing though the story line will get you so far. The issue is (much like the video I posted for TBA review) is you will be underleveled for a while during certain parts of the main quest so you will just have to go out and run a bunch of random shit to level up to be able to continue your story line. So no... it won't be fast by any means.

Fallout, Red Dead, etc... are not exciting to me. Red Dead looks amazing and I'm sure it's a damn good game from everything that I've heard. I just don't play single player games. I only play games where I can interact with others. The only single player game that I'm looking forward to is The Last of Us II. You won't see me for a while once that game comes out.

 

Once again... shit like this is exactly why I hate this fucking game. The only reason I got on was to help a buddy run his wife though the raid and this is par for the fucking course. Can't tell you how many of these that I've gotten.

 

Hahahahaha. Lucky Raspberry has to be the biggest joke in the game. I’ve gotten so many of those and response was pretty much like yours.

Same fucking shit... this game is fucking broken. The guy that you hear get the Thousand Voices has gotten one on all three of his characters now. Since Forsaken dropped in Sept I've only gotten three new exotics drop between two characters (that hasn't been tied to a quest). I dropped out right after that. I'm so fucking sick of this game.

 

I tried rdr2, just the first story mission and up to unlocking online. The controls are awfull! Feels like there's concrete boots on my character!
I'm going to stick with d2 till anthem is out. Might try online rdr2 with friends but wow I was not impressed with rdr2.

 

I've only done it 3 times ever, I have clanmates that can get 3 in a game so that's how I got mine.
I just need 2 more kill invader while they super and I'll be dredgen!

Last night we did the raid up to Riven. We tried the cheese on her but ouldnt get it done before the Brits had to go to bed. Took about 5 hours counting trying to kill Riven a few times. Not bad for all rookies except 1 gaurdian!

I'm thinking about trying to solo shattered thrown.

This is probably the most powerful performance of the 90s. They performed on Letterman the day Cobain was found. Its hitting close to home lately.

 

They found Kurt the day after I started the FD. I remember we were all in shock since most of us in Rookie School were about the same age so we grew up during that era. I loved everything Blind Melon released. I remember having to make my friends listen to them because I knew they would love them. Mouthful of Cavities, Tomes of Home, Soul One, etc... were always some of my favorite songs. I liked No Rain but it was never my favorite. It killed me when I heard Shannon died. Much like Layne Staley, Andrew Wood, Brad Nowell, and most of the singers from my favorite bands.

I just never got into the Malfeasance. Even after the buff it still doesn't seem like it hits hard enough. I do like that it fires at the same rate as the Trust but with my roll on the Trust I'd never replace the Dust Rock Blues with the Malfeasance.
The one thing that the Malfeasance has going for it is if you land 5 non crit shots it's an automatic kill. But that's pretty much any fast firing Hand Cannon. The Malfeasance just puts a small explosion behind it. Just hope you don't go against someone using a Trust with kill clip / rampage active, Luna's Howl, or The Not Forgotten. You will get 2 tapped faster than you can realized what happened. The Malfeasance can only 3 tap with 3 crit shots. It can never kill any faster than that so it's ttk is much slower than a Hand Cannon that fires as slow as the Duke Mk. 44. The Malfeasance is a one trick pony that doesn't have a very good trick. It's kind of fun to play around with but I wouldn't take up an exotic slot for it.

 

I put extended mag on the Trust that I got because it's so stable that it doesn't need a stability mod on it. It holds 12 rounds now IIRC. Add rampage and it's a two tap king. If you're on the solar kills portion then the setup you are running is perfect. Honestly that was the worst part of the quest to me. I ended up just running around the map with the Trust out. That wasn't fun at all but... it wasn't too bad. Once you get past the precision Hand Cannon kills you can use whatever you want which is nice since you can put the Hand Cannons away and use whatever you're comfortable with.

 

Well... I found my new game until Anthem comes out.

Warframe.

I've always shied away from it because I thought it was too complicated and it is. But I'm enjoying it and I've got a lot to learn. But goddamn I love the pace of action in this game. It is unbelievably fast and fluid with the controls. And there is something about having a sword and just going to town on the enemies. I've still have A LOT to learn about this game but I love the fact that you craft your own weapons and armor. No RNG in this game at all. And before anyone says anything... You don't have to spend one dime in this game. Just pick up the blueprint and create whatever you're looking for. Some things you have to wait for 12hrs for it to complete and others you have to wait for 24 hrs. That's fine with me. At least I know what and when I'm going to get it. This is the way Destiny should have been. They could take a few cues from this game.
