So the season ends today. The first thing I would tell you to do if you haven't yet is pick up the quest from Zalava for the Edgewise Machine Gun before it disappears in a few hours. If you haven't finished the quest you most likely have most of it done with the exception of getting Machine Gun kills in strikes. At least that's where I was. I don't use Machine Guns usually unless it's in PvP and even then I've started using the Leviathan's Breath Bow since it will one shot anyone. But for an easy to get (pinnacle) ritual weapon, it's worth it. At 900 RPM it's an add clearing machine. If you are like me and just need the Machine Gun kills there is an easy trick to getting them. Depending on what the choosable NF is, you can pick a NF that starts in a public area and just go kill shit on the planet for the Machine Gun kills. I did this with The Inverted Spire NF. Set the handicap to 0 and just killed shit for about an hour. If you run out of ammo (which you will), just hit up a public event flag and kill shit. It took me about an hour to finish up this quest and get the gun. It's not bad and it's fun to shoot. But it's no 21% Delirium. But hey... it's a free pinnacle weapon that comes fully masterworked.

Speaking of the season ending today... I have to say that I really liked Shadowkeep. I think they did a good job with bringing back the Moon and the Artifact system was a nice addition. That said... I'm undecided about the season pass. If you just bought the season pass (which you could do) for $10 all you really got was the Vex Offensive, the quest for the Leviathan's Breath bow, the quest for the Deathbringer, and a couple of other things. For $10 that isn't bad. But the issue I see is we are all getting the $10 season pass for the foreseeable future since Shadowkeep will be the last big expansion for a while. Saying that... I'm not pissed off because this year Bungie was transparent as opposed to last year with the release of TBA. I personally think this next season (and possibly the next few seasons) will be thin on content. But, Bungie lost almost all their revenue stream when Activision left. Everyone seems pissed at Eververse being in the game but I'm not one of them. Bungie has to make money somehow and if Eververse is the answer then so be it. I don't mind supporting them as long as they put what will not be sold for Bright Dust ever. I would hate to buy something and then find out that I could have waited a week and bought it for Bright Dust. But Bungie has been very clear that content will be more focused on quality over quantity which I'm completely fine with. If I run out of things to do then I can always go after The Not Forgotten and the Revoker Sniper Rifle. But don't be too surprised if there isn't quite as much content this season as opposed to last season. I think the Sundial will get pretty old within a few weeks. But I could be wrong?

The only real issue I see at the moment, and it's been echoed throughout the community, is a lack of any meaningful PvP content. Pinnacle PvP content would extend the value of the game to countless numbers of people and no new content really needs to be in place. It's already there. But unless you are specifically going after a pinnacle weapon, there is no incentive to play (other than it's fun). All the drops are 950 (assuming 960 once the level cap is raised today). But once you hit the level cap there is no reason to play unless you just really like playing, which I do, but I would like to be rewarded for my time.
Everyone want's Trials to return in its original D1 form. I do also as that is all I would do on the weekend. But Trials of the Nine sucked. I went Flawless 8 times but it just wasn't any fun at all. Yes, the risk / reward was there but the objective play just wasn't fun. But I think Bungie is doing it right by bringing back 3v3 Elimination and gathering feedback on what works and what doesn't in this sandbox. The PvP maps in D2 were not made for 3v3 so there is an issue there. But they are slowly bringing back the best maps from D1 so that's a good sign. Hell... Rusted Lands is coming back today and I can't wait to play on that map.

But now that this season is coming to an end and the next season looks pretty thin in content... I'll probably spend most of my time in PvP. I can only play the Garden of Salvation so many times and I'm bored with it. It's a great raid but it just doesn't hold that special place that VoG or TTK did. But... it's better than the Leviathan or any of the other Raid Lairs so there's that. I'll just play it for the Pinnacle rewards.

Out of everyone in the clan (even though I was gone for over a year) I still have 129,179 more kills in game than the next closest person in the game. 376,200 kills and only 9125 deaths. @Pchop That comes out to dying only 2.43% of the time. I can live with that. There's the answer for the how and why I end up with more kills. Play aggressive, but not to the point of dying. The only thing I'm not leading on is Objectives Completed and Deaths.

I can't complain about this season though. I got every Pinnacle reward other than out of Gambit. For some reason I just can't make myself go in there? I will eventually, but the Exit Strategy just wasn't incentive enough.

With the new changes to the Artifact Scouts will be back on the map (finally). The only Scout Rifle I can really see being useful is the Randy's Throwing Knife just because of its rate of fire, full auto, and it's stability. There are a few others but you can't put a mod on a Mida or Jade Rabbit so those are out of the running for the Artifact mods. Pulse Rifles have been in the meta for the last few months and they compete really well in Crucible. Bygones, Claws of the Wolf, or any high rate of fire Pulse Rifle will do well this next season.

The Horrors Least will be a damn good Pulse and I hope you got to farm The Corrupted NF this week. I ended up with a God Roll (glad it wasn't the curated roll because it sucks)

Ricochet Rounds, Range Finder, and Dragonfly with a stability Masterwork.

Made it to 214 (possibly 215 if I play before reset)

Got everything I wanted out of this season with every weapon that was available (other than the Exit Strategy)

Fucking bullshit sniper from the final chest in The Garden of Salvation. You couldn't get worse rolls on a sniper. Genesis and Rampage???? This will be infusion fuel.

But this Tranquility more than made up for it with No Distractions and Firing Line. This will be a beast in PvE and won't take up an exotic slot.

So all in all I'm happy with this season.

I realized I didn't answer all of your post. Izanagi's Burden is a great sniper for the raid (and maybe the Dungeon). But other than that? I can't find a use for it and I wouldn't keep it in my primary slot since it takes up an exotic slot. As far as going for Luna's Howl? I used the Trust the entire time. And honestly??? I'm not sure that the Trust still isn't a better Hand Cannon. Luna's got nerfed pretty hard with the damage falloff after about 30 meters. But it's still one of the best Hand Cannons in the game and I'll probably use it to go for the Not Forgotten. Or I might use my Service Revolver with explosive rounds to flinch the shit out of other people and do a little extra damage? Or... I could just go easy mode and use Thorn lol. I dunno? But I do know I'm going for the Not Forgotten since that's the only Pinnacle weapon (besides the Revoker Sniper Rifle) that I don't have. Truth be known... I'll go after the Revoker also this season. And, depending on what the next Pinnacle weapons will be? I'll go after those also. The Scout Rifle that you get for the seasons pass (at least that's what I think you get?) looks cool. We'll see?

Download is 4.368GB. Even with an SSD hooked up to the PS4 it still takes forever to copy the file. I don't know what kind of file structure they use but it's pretty inefficient.

Been meaning to ask you to go into Gambit with me so you can learn me the rules. I have NO FUCKING CLUE of what I am supposed to do in there. I usually just run around killing shit like a fucking idiot.

Lol... I tried to explain it to you the other night and you cut me off???

I'll go into Gambit with you but be prepared to be frustrated until you learn the maps, when the invasions are most likely coming, when to invade, who is going to be the designated invader, watching how many motes the other team is holding (or depositing), knowing when to deposit your motes and not be a target, knowing that you will be a target because it will show above your head how many motes you are holding, if you're holding 10 you WILL be the first target, and knowing that you will be invaded (and will have to invade) while burning down your Primeval etc... etc...
Also you're hoping for the Meatball to spawn and hope you burn it down before the other team so you can get the Malfeasance quest. That's a fun gun to play with. It used to be pretty good in Crucible as it would kind of blind you if you got hit by a crit shot. But now I think it's just a trophy weapon that I keep in my vault in case they buff it to where it's useful again. The hardest part of the quest is you have to invade the other team and get a full team wipe. So that's what I used to do when I played Gambit. I would always be the invader. If you have the Malfeasance quest and don't want to invade, then you can get someone else to invade for you and get a team wipe. But you have to have them get a team wipe four times. I got the Malfeasance quest done for a lot of people in the clan until they nerfed the Sleeper.

Okay... I've been playing since 12pm and just stopped to take a break.

Let me first say... I was completely wrong about this expansion. I'm not sure there isn't more to do in this expansion than there was in Shadowkeep? Jesus there is so much to do and so much to go after. I seriously thought that it was just going to be running the Sundial the entire time but I was wrong. There is so much shit to do it is crazy. I'm still figuring out what I'm suppose to do as it isn't really clear what you are doing in the game.

There are two things that I don't like. The armor that you had from Shadowkeep is no good in this expansion. You will have to get a completely new set of armor to place the new mods in. The second and biggest thing is Eververse. I don't mind Eververse selling cosmetic items and shit like that. If you want them you can buy them. If you don't... it doesn't change the way the game plays. But there is an item that you can buy for bright dust called Concentrated Mattergem that will allow you to kill almost any add and it will give you an upgrade module. That is affecting the game because people can use real world money and buy those items and completely Masterwork their shit without having to play the game. I'm dead set against anything that allows someone to gain something in the game that will give you an advantage by spending real world money. Cosmetics are fine because they don't affect the outcome of the game. But when you start the "pay to win" model... I have an issue with that.

Other than that... this expansion is so much better than I expected.

you only use the upgrade modules when you infuse gear to make it a higher level not when you masterwork it.

200 bright dust is pretty pricey for that.

Agreed, as you know. We had a long conversation about it last night when the 3 of us were playing.

For everyone else, holy shit is there a shit ton of stuff to do. Britts right, it is confusing, which is fine, it takes a minute to figure out what to do, such as.....when you see Osiris, make sure you click on the "Accept" but when you back out, go back in and continue talking to him, he will have more shit to give you, not sure if this is a glitch or intentional.
This happened to Rich last night where we saw him at the same time and I went back in to talk to Osiris again and he didn't, I ended up with the new quest step and rich didnt.

We went into a strike and I ended up finishing the quest step and Rich knew nothing about it.

Also, figuring out the Sundial bounties and the weapon bounties, Timeless bounties, linking the Sundial, etc. It will take a minute to sort out and figure what you need to move on.

I agree 200 bright dust is pricey but I used almost all the bright dust that I had collected to get the upgrade modules and I got a fuck ton of them to drop. I mean we would have to stop every minute or so during the NF and pop one because they drop so often. The issue is to me, you can buy them for real world money. I don't mind Eververse. I never have because I just don't use it very often. But I understand that Bungie needs to make money somehow and it's fine with me if they want to put all the really cool looking shit in the game for sale. You have the option of buying it if you like it or not. The issue with the path they are going down is a slippery slope to running into a "pay to win" model. Yes you only use the upgrade modules to infuse gear but somebody with more money than sense will buy a bunch and then go to the gunsmith and trade them in for Enhancement Prisms and then turn those in for Ascendent Shards to Masterwork their armor. That in itself isn't game breaking, but I fear that it is going in a direction that you really don't want it to go. If we can pay to Masterwork our items... what's next?

I played MMO's for 10 years or so and I've seen this path taken more than I care to remember. Once any MMO went to a free to play model, the issues like this started to pop up. Every MMO has an Eververse type of vendor so that's not uncommon. The issue is, every MMO that I played that eventually went to a free to play model went down the path of selling stuff that was cool, then they would sell stuff that would make it easier to get the hard items, then... eventually you could only get those items if you actually paid for them and they were top tier game breaking items. It ruined almost every MMO I ever played because it affected the game so much. Bungie is starting to go done that path, however slightly you perceive it. Once you can pay to upgrade all of your stuff what's next? That's my fear for the game.

Agreed, you have all the pinnacle weapons because you grind for them.

I go for the ones that I want and it takes me fucking forever and I still dont have half of them. I've never bought anything from Eververse, although I am thinking about the finisher bundle, but, like you said, not a game winner item.

You start selling shit that takes guys hours upon hours to grind out because its how you HAVE to play the game to get the good shit.

Just like me and my issue of you always kicking my ass in kills, you think its how I play, I think its weapons.....to a point of course.

Anyhow, then, a couple months later you start selling that same shit we all ground it out for and now blue berry noobs can just come in and buy it with out putting the effort in?

    Fuck that noise man.

Yeah, that's my concern. I've been grinding for the new Fusion Rifle from Crucible just because I want it. I don't think it's going to be that great but it's got some cool perks and I just want it because it's new and I don't think many people will grind for it. I don't think it will get to a point that they will be selling the actual weapons that I'm grinding out. But I do see the materials as a concern as that's just the tip of the ice burg. I'm afraid they will start selling items that will make it easier to complete the hard shit. That has happened in a few MMO's that I played and it ruined the game once that happens. I'm grinding out the Not Forgotten which is the hardest gun to get in the game IMO. I don't need it but it's in the game and I just want it. It's the same thing as Luna's Howl but just more range (one meter  ) and it has a little less stability but it hits slightly harder. It's more of a trophy weapon than anything just to say that "I" grinded this shit out all the way to 5000 in comp. Once you get into that range it becomes stupid hard. But I see a time where they will start selling boons (like original Trials in D1) that will forgive a loss and your rank won't suffer. If they did something like that I would be PISSED after I spent all that time in the Crucible grinding all the way up to getting the Not Forgotten. "I" did this... I put in the time an effort to get something and then they make it easier? That's the issue that I see coming.

As far as the weapons go, yeah, I agree to a point. Weapons make a difference. And I've got most of the weapons because I grinded them out. But you tell me what weapons you would like me to run... I mean any setup... and I'll still beat you ;) Hell... I'll run triple shotguns lol. I did that yesterday doing the quest for the Sundial and it was kind of fun. Triple fusion rifles, dual sidearms, whatever... So make me a setup you want me to use and if I beat you??? I don't want to hear anything :)

I didn’t think about trading them to banshee
Because I have never done that.

Isn’t it easier just to get Ascendent Shards from the dungeon?

By the way in the season pass there are items that raise your season gear by 1 level. I would recommend waiting to collect those until you have good rolls and your season gear is level 7 or 8. So you don’t need Ascendent shards to master work them

Pfft, we already went down that road with you running the same thing I was. No contest.

Like I said, I still thing weapons matter.......to a point....then your gaming skill kicks in and weapons dont really matter.

I hate gambit but I’m going to have to grind it for the shotgun.

I "think" the only place you can reliably get Ascendant Shards is by doing the 980 NF. They don't drop in the Dungeon and they don't drop in the Raid (at least I've never seen a drop in the Raid). Masterwork armor does drop in the Dungeon but it's useless in this expansion since it won't take the mods from the new Artifact unless they changed it? I haven't been in the Dungeon since the new expansion dropped. But trading items that are easy to get now by selling a specific item for real world money is an issue to me with the game. It makes getting upgrade materials so easy if you actually paid money for it. So if they do this, it's not really game breaking because it doesn't really affect much. But it "might" affect the Crucible if you're rocking 10 resilience that you wouldn't normally have if you didn't Masterwork it or just build for it. I doubt that this item is going to make much of a difference in game. But the main issue to me is, Bungie is testing out what people buy and if everyone buys this item (I used all the Silver Dust I had stored up to buy all I could) then they will put in other items that will make it easier to get and do other things in the game that are hard to do or hard to get.
This game appeals to casual players and hardcore players like myself. There is a place for everyone in the game. You can just run around shooting shit if you want or you can do the hardest things in the game. But the hardest things in the game need to remain the hardest things in the game. If everyone is running around with a Not Forgotten (which I'm still working on btw), I'm going to be pissed. If they start selling items that make things easier to get or easier to finish... that's a huge issue with me.

As far as the season pass items... Yes you are completely right. Wait to pull them out of your season pass until you have a set that you like. The season pass armor sucks balls with the low stat roll but it's nice for raising your level cap. I don't pull much out of the season pass until I hit the level cap. The exotics can wait. I've got most of them anyway.

They do. But not as much as I think you think they do. Don't think that I haven't noticed you running ahead as fast as you can during strikes. The thing is... while you may get there earlier, it doesn't matter. What matters is learning everything about every strike. That's it. Knowing exactly when and where things will spawn and when to use your super etc... I've noticed that you throw a tether out in the strangest places? I don't say anything but it's just like... huh??? Why??? Just completely learn the strikes is all I can say. I've played them thousands of times so it's just muscle memory for me. I don't even think about what I'm doing in strikes because they are simply easy. But that is why I can't get you to 100k on the NF. I can't do it all by myself. I tried and it just won't work until you learn the strike completely and get the kills fast. My only advice I can give is to not worry about the scoreboard and just enjoy the game.

I'm with you man. I'm not a big fan of Gambit anymore. I didn't even step foot in there last season for the Exit Strategy. It's the only gun I didn't get last season. But... I might have to go for the shotgun myself.

Yeah, I am not pulling shit out of the season pass until way down the road.

And, yup, you see me throw a tether in some hokey ass places. Not on purpose mind you, which is why you hear me go "That was a shitty tether", I'm still learning the aim (I've only been running a hunter for a few months now). I typically have to triple jump and get as high as I can, otherwise I miss, especially on the far flat shots, and if I am trying to dodge while doing it ??? Well you see what happens. Don't think I dont watch where and when you throw yours.
Mostly those shitty throws are just that, shitty throws. Unlike you though, mine dont come back fast as fuck because I dont have the boots you do.

Heading on home from work. See you on in an hour or so.

After really looking at the shotgun from Gambit, I don't think I'm going to go for it. The only time I really use shotguns is in Crucible and there is no way that shotgun will compete with the Dust Rock Blues or Mindbenders Ambition. It will however make a good PvE shotgun with the perk Overflow. That would be awesome for just running over a brick of ammo and it automatically loads into the gun with no limit to how many you can have in the magazine as far as I can tell? That would mean as long as there are bricks of ammo laying on the ground you would never have to reload the gun which would be pretty awesome. I just wish it had a better PvP roll because it won't compete in there at all with the low range compared to Mindbenders Ambition that has almost a maxed out range if you get the curated roll. That thing is my baby in Crucible.

    Got it...

It took me most of the day to finish this up. Best tip I can give you is to use the Arbalest as it's a primary fusion rifle and you won't have to wait around and hope you get heavy. It was a challenge since I don't use fusion rifles that often. But I got used to it pretty quickly.

I haven't even shot it. I just got it so I'll play around with it and give my opinion later.

    I... am... officially... DONE!!!!

I've played Crucible since about 4am yesterday. At 3:14 this morning I finally hit 5500 in comp and got the Not Forgotten. I think the only reason I was able to move up so fast was because the new expansion came out and everyone is playing that right now. So it was a good time to play in comp before everyone starts back after playing the new stuff.
I originally started out yesterday morning just wanting the Komodo Fusion Rifle since I didn't figure many people would be going for it and I just wanted it. Once I got it I was sitting at 4500 in comp. I quit for a while because I was sick of Crucible and all the sweaty matches. So @Pchop and I ran a few NF's and I was tired and he was tired and we were both sucking ass in the game. I just couldn't focus anymore. Got off and drove to the store to pick up a few things and all I could think about is getting back in and fucking finishing this once and for all. So I logged back in and won the first game. A dude that I got matched up with for two matches in a row messaged me and asked if I wanted to team up? So I said sure because the motherfucker was good (better than me if I'm honest). So we played the rest of the matches and only lost one. If it weren't for teaming up with him I'm not sure I would have been able to do it by myself. I can carry a lot of teams before you get to 4000 but once it gets over that, it's all on you to play the best you can play. So we both got what we wanted and I was really lucky to have played those two match's with him and then team up.

Longest win streak in comp was 13. That is pretty damn hard to do. Normally I can win two or three matches and then get pub stomped the next match. But this was a nice streak. On the road to 5500 I won 67% of my matches. That's about as good as you can ask for. I don't think I could get it any higher

Insomnia sucks but it has its benefits also. So here it is. I haven't even fired it yet.

I'm done with Crucible until the next Iron Banner comes around. And I'm done with comp for a while. Though I will have to play three games each week to keep my score at 5500. Otherwise it will start to go down automatically if I don't play. Honestly that wouldn't be a bad thing if it did since it takes into account skill based matchmaking. I should let it go all the way back down and then play. That might be fun.

A couple of messages I got while climbing up the comp ladder.

So I finally got the hardest item in the game to get. I can't think of anything harder to do in the game as the people that you're playing against at that level are PvP gods, streamers, and youtubers. I played three Clash matches after I finished just for fun and holy shit!!! They were just as sweaty if not more than comp. I got my ass handed to me one match and ended up with a .45 KD. The other two matches weren't much better. I ended up with a 1.9 KD and a 1.7 KD but we should have been mercy'd because we were getting beat so bad. SBMM is a bitch now. Playing 6's is completely different than Survival. I'll have to get back in the groove for playing 6's. But not now. I'm done with Crucible for a while. I don't want to step foot back in there until my score starts dropping. And even then? I might let it drop. I'm just ready for IB to come around so I can get rid of this shitty armor that they gave us.

Right now is the time to run comp while everyone is playing the new stuff. I honestly think that is why I was able to climb that ladder in a day.
