When PvP in D2 started it was horrible. Double primaries, shitty ttk, shitty movement speeds, Trials of the Nine sucked ass, etc... It's taken them 3 years to get PvP back to a place that it is pretty much like it was in D1. Now PvP is in a pretty good spot and is actually enjoyable. I quit D2 for a year after TBA came out because I was just sick of the ups and downs of Bungie's decisions. I came back when Shadowkeep released. This season has completely sucked ass as far as PvE content goes. I feel sorry for anyone that had to suffer through this season and lack of any meaningful PvE content. The only saving grace for this season was the return of Trials. Trials as a game mode plays almost exactly like it did in D1. The only issue is the way that they set up the token system and reward system is completely broken. The more times you go Flawless it dilutes your loot pool so much that the chances you might actually get the roll on a weapon you might actually want is damn near close to zero. My loot pool is so diluted now that the chances of me getting the exact roll I want on Eye of Sol Sniper is so far out of the equation that I'll never get one with Accurized Rounds, Snapshot sights, Moving Target / Vorpal Weapon, with a Handling Masterwork.

This is the closest I've gotten to getting that roll. I've gotten two of this exact same roll. If it only had a Handling Masterwork on it I would be pretty happy with it. What am I going to do with a Stability Masterwork

 

Yeah I can’t say I agree with trials being the highlight of this season but I do agree that this season’s PvE content sucked. Trials is full of the same meta weapons and there is no variety, it’s way to sweaty and after two wins it’s almost impossible to get the third win. I wish I was better at it but it just isn’t as popular as it was years ago. I wish I had snap shot sights on my two eyes of sol... can’t even get snapshot on my 10+ Beloveds in the vault.

 

I don't have any trouble going Flawless in Trials. The main issue I have is the way the token system is used and there are (at this time) no Adept weapons. But you are correct. If you aren't using a Suros with a Beloved or a Summoner with a Revoker if you are sniping you are playing against the meta and good luck getting past the first couple of matches on the card. I hate this new Auto Rifle meta we are in right now but it just is what it is.

One of the issue with Trials and what makes it so hard to get that third win is people (like myself) resetting their card and farming for specific rolls on the Astral Horizon at three wins. That's one reason Trials is fucked up right now. They are going to change the way the token system works and add Adept weapons back in the game but why the hell they didn't just port the OG Trials from D1 over to D2 is beyond me? That is all anyone that plays Trails wanted. But Bungie, as usual, fucked that up.

It took me over a month to get the Beloved I want to drop with Quickdraw, Snapshot Sights, and a Handling Masterwork. The very next one that dropped was the exact same roll with the exception of a Range Masterwork. The Beloved is by far my favorite PvP Sniper in the game. Even more so than the Revoker and I love the Revoker. My go to Shotgun was my God Rolled Mindbenders but now that Felwinter's Lie has dropped, the Mindbenders is vaulted.

I agree with you in that it is a beast, but for some reason I am having a hard time wielding it. I swear I shot a few guys in the face with it as they were coming around a corner and nothing, they in turn blasted my ass with it.

Have you had that happen when you first got it?

 

No not really. Since (most) Shotguns don't have a reticle you will notice when not scoped in, there is a large circle that gives you an indication of where your pellets should land. You do not want to aim for the head with a shotgun. You want to aim low. Basically you want that circle to be from their dick to their neck. Center mass. If that circle covers more than their dick to the neck? You won't get a one shot kill. You will get more used to knowing the kill distance by sight the more you use them. When you ADS, that circle disappears so it just leaves you with the top of the barrel to look at so aim the barrel a little low. If you aim for the head, half (if not more) of the pellets will bypass the target.

The next few pictures might help make some sense in the differences between three of my God Rolled Shotguns and why the Felwinter's Lie is so good. All of these shots were taken from 8 meters away which is realistically the furtherest one shot kill distance you can get on an Aggressive Frame Shotgun. Notice the pellet spread between the three.

Felwinter's Lie. Pellet spread is completely uniform with the 5 pellets in the middle and the surrounding pellets. Full Choke is part of this but the main thing is Shot Package which can only roll on Felwinter's Lie. Also notice the Ring I was speaking about in each picture.



Dust Rock Blues. Even though it has Full Choke the pellet spread is not nearly as uniform at the same distance.



Astral Horizon. Full Choke. Same thing... Pellet Spread at 8 meters isn't nearly as consistent.

 

One thing to note in those pictures above that I forgot to mention. I could shoot the Felwinter's Lie at that distance at that wall all day long and the pellet spread would be the same every single time. I could shoot the Dust Rock Blues or Astral Horizon all day the the pellet spread would be different every single time. A lot of RNG goes into pellet spread and the Felwinter's takes the RNG out of the equation.
