My parent's moved us to Pleasanton back in 2009. Definitely a much better part of the Bay Area compared to San Jose where I grew up.

 

@RearViewMirror - I gotta ask.. where did you get your PS5 from? Everyone is sold out around here..

 

He got his from Walmart, I got mine from Best Buy. You just have to be persistent and lucky. Walmart hasn't released any stock in quite a while and are doing what they can to detect bots, so hopefully they will have a stockpile released soon.

I had tried to get one on the day that Sony announced the preorders would be going live the following day. But Walmart completely fucked everything up and decided that they would start selling the preorders right after the Sony announcement.

Note the date: They were supposed to be available for preorder on the 17th.



This in turn had a domino effect and every other retailer that was set to take preorders the following day followed Walmarts lead and preorders sold out before they were even supposed to begin. Once the console launched, scalpers used "bot" software to buy up every available PS5 as soon as it was dropped so your chances at getting one were slim to none. The software would overrun the site and make it crash only allowing the bots to buy up the stock. That said... Walmart (and other businesses) finally implemented some sort of anti bot software that could detect true customers from "bot" customers.

Here's what I did. A buddy that I play with and I would keep an eye everyday on the Playstation store, Best Buy, Sams, Costco, Walmart, and Target. Everytime I opened up my browser each site opened up in its own tab. We would text each other if we found out that a supply would be dropping on any of those sites. I was lucky one time and actually was able to get a PS5 in my cart at Walmart.com so I left it there. I had all of my payment information already set up so all I had to do was hit checkout. Supply dropped one day on Walmart.com and I continually hit "checkout" over and over and it finally took. I normally wouldn't have ever ordered from Walmart because fuck Walmart. But, surprisingly, it shipped a lot faster than expected. There is a very large Walmart distribution center about 100 miles from me so it arrived weeks before the promised date.

The thing to do now is just check each site everyday throughout the day and see if any are planned to drop. Scalpers are getting desperate now that they have more stock than demand. They were selling them for upwards of $1500 on ebay but the last I heard was that the price has dropped off dramatically since.

The issue with buying one off of ebay is:

1: You will have no warranty and no recourse if it breaks. You could get one and it breaks a week later and you are fucked. I bought a 3 year warranty on mine. I usually never buy a warranty but out of the four PS4's that I own, three of them have had a disc drive failure.

2: You never know who you are buying one from. And if it happens to be a stolen one? It's bricked as soon as you turn it on and it connects to the internet. Sony bricked every unit that was reported stolen during shipment.

Persistence is the key. Sony has said that they will not be selling units in store anytime soon. Although... that isn't necessarily the case. I went to the Target close to my house to buy a new Sony Pulse 3D headset and they had one headest in stock in the back. I was talking to the guy that worked in electronics and he told me a shipment of 12 PS5's just showed up at the store a few days before out of the blue. He said they set on the shelf for over two hours until word got out and the store was overrun with people trying to get one.

My guess??? It will be March or April before you "might" start seeing one in store. Six months from now? You'll be able to get one anytime you want. But if you want it now, you'll just have to be persistent.

Finished my Hawkmoon catalyst yesterday.. gotta say it really wakes the gun up. I love the improved handling.

 

No doubt. I used it in Trials this weekend and only lost one match. Luckily we all had the mercy boon so we went to the Lighthouse on the first attempt. Killing wind is a top tier perk since it gives you 10 seconds of improved range, handling, and target acquisition. It will now compete with the 120rpm hand cannons in the game with no issue.

 

Thanks again for your help with Harbinger! It was nice to play with another person and not struggle through something solo like I've been doing.

 

No problem. I'll probably run it again tomorrow as I'd like to get an "opening shot" Hawkmoon. People have a misconception about "opening shot" as they think that it only affects the first shot that you take. But that's not the case. If you take your first shot but someone moves out of line of sight, you wait three seconds and "opening shot" procs once again. If you look at your reticle when not zoomed in you will notice a circle with 4 lines. The circle is your shot "cone" (where you can expect your shot to go). The 4 lines that are at the edge of the circle is what tightens that cone. The closer those lines are to center the more accurate the weapon is on its first shot. As you keep shooting, those lines start to expand and your shots will also take more accuracy to land those shots. So "opening shot" will give you an advantage in a 1v1 by being able to consistently land the first head shot. Depending on how deep you are in your magazine with Hawkmoon determines how much damage it does. The first headshot out of Hawkmoon will land a 70 crit. The first shot out of a 120 hand cannon will land a 90 crit. But as you gain stacks of Paracausal shot, each crit shot goes up in value. If you manage to get Paracausal shot to up to x's 6 you will one shot another player in PvP even if it is a body shot. Killing Wind helps with that because after every kill you have 10 seconds of extra everything. Opening Shot will tighten the shot cone making it easier to land the first crit shot and win a 1v1 dual even against a 120rpm Hand Cannon. I'm happy with the one that I've got right now and if I don't get one with Opening Shot I won't be disappointed. But I would like to have one.

 

Made it to 82 for the season..162 light w/artifact. Honestly, i felt like i was chasing light level the whole season. I consider myself a casual player.. between work, other stuff i can't play day in and day out.. but chasing an arbitrary number every season is getting old.

Hoping the modifications to the bounty system will change things up.

 

They will slow down the pace at which you gain levels on your seasons pass and your overall level this season. So if you thought last season was bad... this one is worse. That's honestly fine with me as the power cap (without the artifact) is 1320 this season. 1310 is the soft cap without pinnacles. I don't mind chasing power levels as they just come by naturally as you play the game. One thing to remember... DO NOT delete any blues that you get to drop that are higher level than what you have on before 1310. You don't have to equip them, the game knows you have them. Just don't delete them until you get a blue that is even higher. Leave them in your inventory on your character (you don't have to equip them), keep them in your postmaster, or put them in your vault. The game knows that you have them no matter where they are. If you delete them you will only gain the same blues once again and never gain any power levels. Once you hit 1310 you will have to grind out pinnacles. That is relatively easy though as they have given more options for pinnacles than just running the raid or Trials. Always farm the powerful rewards first each week at reset before going for the pinnacles. I end up getting most of my pinnacles from Trials since I just don't like this new raid for some reason?

 

Speaking of new shit....

Bungie dropped a brand new mission during the NF without telling anyone about it. It's a really good mission and much harder (or more mechanics) than the Hawkmoon quest. At the end you get an exotic scout rifle called the Dead Man's Tale and it's pretty awesome since it's a Tex Mechanica weapon like The Last Word. It drops the first time just like Hawkmoon with a blank spot for a random roll that you can go back and farm. It's a three tap Scout which is nice since scouts are sorely lacking in the game right now. Plus it looks cool as fuck



Been farming for The Bottom Dollar out of Gambit and I fucking HATE Gambit. But I got a decent one but it certainly isn't a god roll by any stretch of the imagination.



Why I hate Gambit. Team did okay but I'm surprised we won

 

I'm not starting from the very bottom this season, so the grind won't be quite as drastic. More options for powerful rewards this season too.. I don't mind the Battlegrounds strikes so far. Skyburner's Oath will tear through some Cabal in there.

I need to run the new exotic mission. Looks interesting.

 

New scout will two tap, also its a hip fire gun. It works really well at those close to mid ranges. Ads takes some getting used to but its a beast.

Gonna farm the pali tonight. Just try and get a good roll for the collection

 

This roll on this smg is gross as well. Probably the best SMG right now

 

Battlegrounds are a fun new addition that breaks up the regular grind. I play very little PvE but I've actually enjoyed Battlegrounds as they are just long enough to make them interesting. And you're right... there is finally a reason to break out Skyburner's Oath (even though I don't).

Yep... Since it's a Tex Mechanica weapon, it hip fires very well. ADS reminds me of No Land Beyond from D1. I haven't taken it into PvP yet since my Steady Hand will still outshoot most anything. But on mid range maps I'll break out my Hawkmoon with Opening Shot.

This is the best SMG god roll that I've found. I abuse the shit out of this gun. It's a fucking laser beam.



The new Trials armor is going to look so much better than the old armor. The Chest Piece dropped from the Flawless chest last week. I hope the Hand Cannon drops this weekend.



I did get a new RL out of Trials last weekend and though it certainly isn't a god roll, "Lasting Impression" is a fucking awesome perk.
