Quick reminder for those that still read this or play the game. Trials is giving out nothing but Igneous Hammers this weekend. No other rewards are being offered. You can play six rounds of Trials and finish a bounty for a free one whether you win or lose each match. You can win 3 matches, 5 matches, and 7 matches and an Igneous Hammer will drop. If you go to the Lighthouse you get an Adept version. THIS is the week to play Trials as nothing else is dropping.

Remember... You don't even have to win a match to get one to drop. Just finish the bounty which calls for you to play six matches and you will get one for free.

First Adept that dropped for me at the Lighthouse this weekend.

So far this is my favorite even though it doesn't have a damage perk like my others. It just feels better than the rest with Snapshot Sights.



Second Adept that dropped this weekend. I like it but it just doesn't feel as snappy as the Quickdraw / Snapshot roll. Even if it has Rampage on it.



The one I was using for quite a while. Not really a PvP roll with Subsistance but Moving Target is nice and it has maxed out range and will Map people.



Ended up with 12 Igneous Hammers

 

Trials is giving out a new weapon finally. Shayura's Wrath SMG.

Both times I went to the Lighthouse one dropped (though it isn't an adept version since the adept weapon this week is the Messenger). But it also drops at three wins. Ended up with 6 of them after it was all said and done.

It is a great weapon and will reach out to Auto Rifle range and is stable as hell.

This is the God roll. Can't get a better roll than this. Accurized Rounds, Range masterwork, Tunnel Vision and Kill Clip. All of those combined have perfect synergy with this roll.

 

Hahahaha.... I actually played against Badass Gaming today. If you guys follow Destiny on youtube or twitch then you have most likely watched some of his videos. They are hilarious and entertaining. I've watched him for years and finally got grouped against him today. Pretty cool (though I doubt he liked getting beat)

I'm so glad The Last Word is relevant again!

 

The Last Word is a beast. It's almost always been a beast but last year before the nerf people were ADSing it and getting the same damage numbers as hip fire. The issue was, on PC it is so easy to control the recoil that people were ADSing and it was reaching out to distances that it wasn't supposed to reach and doing damage at those distances. So the only nerf it got was to it's ADS damage and not hip fire. But most people stopped using it for whatever reason? The gun itself didn't change as it was always meant be be hip fired. Then with this new season they adjusted the cone angle by one more degree making it even easier to use if it wasn't already easy enough. Now you just need your reticle over the target and it will almost always proc crit shots if they are close enough. The Last Word has the fastest TTK in the game so I'm not sure why more people don't use it? Saying that, I don't use it all the time either. 120 Hand Cannons are still king and on Bannerfall (in the video above) pairing a 120 HC with a shotgun would have worked just as well. But The Last Word pairs very well with a sniper for longer range maps and i prefer sniping. If you are paying attention it will shut down a shotgun rusher or a Titan smash unless you put yourself into a bad situation (which I did a few times in that video). But there are a few instances in that video that perfectly show how it will destroy an oncoming Titan. It's almost like it negates the damage when they reach you. The thing that you have to be very aware of is reloading often since it fires so fast and only has 8 rounds. I got caught off guard by not counting my shots a couple times and paid the price.

One other thing about The Last Word, DO NOT us the ornament from Eververse on it. It is bugged right now and makes the gun less accurate.

 

Got around to finishing up the Masterwork for the Deathbringer RL. To be honest, I completely forgot about this RL since I first got it in Shadowkeep. Used it a few times and threw it in the vault. They released the catalyst this season and it turns this thing into an add clearing machine and a pretty damn good DPS monster if you're using the RL mods along with Charged With Light. You can go into the Last Wish Raid and put in the wish for Shuro Chi and finish it up within 15 mins. I just took it into the new Override missions on the moon and had it done within 3 runs while I was running for the weekly pinnacle. Basically it lets you fire the rocket at a lower altitude and the void balls don't have to drop as far to do maximum damage. If you want to clear out adds or do some pretty serious boss damage, this is a pretty good choice for certain encounters.



Played IB all last night and finally got a decent Frozen Orbit roll. It isn't perfect but at least it has Snapshot sights on it so I can now use it in PvP. Played one match with it and got 6 kills with it but then the new IB Occluded Finality dropped with Snapshot Sights.

I'm happy with this roll on the Frozen Orbit. No Distractions is nice.



The new sniper dropped from IB the very next game. I certainly don't mind Elemental Capacitor since it makes it stable as hell. Played one match and got 10 kills with it so I like it.



And the scope is also nice since it reminds me of the Omniscient Eye from GoS. Omniscient Eye had one of the best scopes but the sniper was basically made useless when they nerfed 140 snipers.



I'm at 90+% on all the bounties for IB right now so I'll finish them in a couple games. We got tired and stopped last night. One thing of note... Do NOT turn in your tokens right now if you are hunting for the new IB Shotgun. It is bugged and will not drop by turning in tokens. The only way to get it right now is by finishing the bounties and hoping one drops. If it doesn't drop and you want one, don't turn in your tokens. Just save them until later when it is fixed.

 

@RearViewMirror - Are you running VoG on Saturday? Do you need another for your group if you are?

 

I’m running it twice. Once as soon as it opens up and again at 7 cst. Both groups are full right now. But I’ll be running them a lot during the week for those that want to run it.

 

Finally... After 52 flawless runs on my own account I finally got the Trials Sparrow to drop. I kind of feel guilty because I couldn't play for shit today. I didn't embarrass myself but I sure didn't put up any good numbers. I caused us to lose a card on our 5th match so I felt pretty bad about that. Took us 16 matches to go to the Lighthouse then the Sparrow finally dropped.

After Trials, went in the Lost Sector on the moon because the Star-Eater Scales are dropping today. It's one of the harder Lost Sectors with Anti Barrier and Overload Champions are all over the place. I would recommend using the Witherhoard Grenade Launcher to deal with the Overload Champions and I ended up using the Summoner Auto Rifle with Dragonfly and Dragonfly Mod to clear out adds and deal with the Anti Barrier Champions. Luckily, They dropped on the first attempt with good rolls. Unfortunately I won't be able to use them in VoG this weekend since they will be disabled.

Made it up to the Templar, took 4 hours from the start to get past the oracles but we're a casual clan. Going back in later. So far got legs and the heavy machine gun.

 

We almost got the Templar down. Nothing is the same as the OG VoG. We are doing this blind and figuring out as we go.

 

What I've seen in the streams.. dps is crucial for Templar.

 

It’s making sure you kill the Oracles in the correct order. You could kill them in whatever order you wanted on OG VoG but not now

We called it a day. VoG is no joke on Challenge mode. Got the Templar down and called it. The main issue we had was we kept having to switch a couple players out that had to leave so we would have to re explain what to do for whatever encounter.

I'm not sure what non challenge mode will be like but at least today, every enemy has a red symbol over their name. Getting in the door is no joke (at least not today). There are three cyclops (one at each plate) and it doesn't matter if you kill them or not. The respawn right back. So just ignore them. I would suggest using a sword during the first part. The second part is when we figured out that you have to shoot the oracles in the correct order that they come up. And the oracles don't look like they did in D1. The flash for about 3 secs then disappear. Then flash again and disappear. Then you MUST shoot them in the order they come up. If you don't? It's a wipe because you do not have enough time to get to the middle to cleanse yourself as the pool is only up for about 5 secs at most. Made it through that then then worked on the Templar. I've always been the relic runner and that isn't much different. The only issue is the fanatics that swarm if you don't kill them fast. They leave behind a pool and you can not cleanse yourself with the relic like you could in D1. You have to run through the pool in the middle. Only issue is, that pool isn't always lit. So everyone has to be killing fanatics while the relic runner kills harpies to build up the super energy for the relic. Challenge mode is just that. A challenge. But it's fun and I hope they don't lower the difficulty very much after this weekend. I feel for anyone playing on a PS4 though. There were a couple in our group and there were times when it was a slideshow for them. The PS5 is a beast and never had on FPS drop even with all the shit going off.
