Bungie's Destiny

We took Rich @TenBeers into Elimination (basically the same thing as Trials) today. It's funny as hell playing with him.

Motherfucker... I completely understand why Bungie did not want to implement Freelance Trials. I swore I'd never step foot back in there again but I did this weekend. Wish I hadn't. I played 55 matches until finally grouping up with a couple guys that I play with every so often and went Flawless.

But fuck Freelance. 3 times!!!! 3 MOTHERFUCKING TIMES!!!! Someone dropped out on our final match. 3 times we were ahead and it was going to be an easy win but someone (I suppose?) wanted to reset their card so they wouldn't be put into the Flawless pool. FUCK THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS! My recommendation is if you drop on ANY match you automatically get a 1 month ban from Trials. I understand disconnects but Trials allows you to reconnect. And it's pretty fucking easy to see what people are doing resetting their cards on the final match.

Anyway... Went Flawless and that part went smooth as soon as I grouped up with my team.

Here is a little montage of some of the snipes that I had in Trials. I didn't record them all but I tried to remember to save as much as I could. The Thousand Yard Stare is a fucking beast. I started off this weekend and put 22 kills on it in Trials only. I really like the part in the video with the standoff between me and the other guy. I "guess" he thought he was going to fuck me up with his Gemini Jesters? Didn't work.

Was also able to get a full set of pretty decent armor for my new Titan even though I never took him into Trials



And after 68 Flawless runs on my account I finally got the Ship to Drop. The Rarest and hardest to get ship in the game.



Also finished the Dungeon on Master difficulty and got the Sparrow to drop (though I'll never use it). Looks cool though.

Been lurking here for a while. Probably the only game I've been playing since the first Destiny came out in 2014. I tried other FPS game but D2 always pulls me back in.
I got my brother down the rabbit hole as well and is pretty hard-core at it. So is my son who's in his teens and a way better pvp than I am but gets caught up with other games with his peeps.
I have checked other D2 forums and clans discord but you guys seem to have more info and daily activities to talk about to make me jump back in and grind for those rare weapons and armors! Haha

Who would've thought I would find this thread in a TW forum and enjoy both Tacos and D2. And since D2 has made it cross platform, I'm hoping I can join in on the grind one day with you guys.

I actually have not played any other game in about 6 months. Honestly, I don't play Destiny as much as I used to, but it is the only game that can keep me coming back. Glad that the community is active here.

 

I'm an on-again off-again player, lol. I play a lot when there is new content, but I get bored when it turns into a grind of the same thing over and over again. I stick mainly to PvE, and when that gets boring and repetitive I occasionally hang out with Britt on PvP. I'll hit the season completion of 100, but not go over that much. I never finish Gambit stuff.

 

I can't get into gambit as well. I can't believe I grinded to get the title Dredgen! I'll only Do it for the pinnacles now until it doesn't level me up anymore.. Wish there was a way to AFK and be done with it.

What platform do you play on?

I play everyday. Been playing since D1 Alpha. Destiny has been through its ups and downs. Bungie has pissed me off so much in the past that I wanted nothing more than the company to fail at times. I quit the game for over a year once. But I honestly think the game is in the best state that it's ever been in right now.

Don't get your hopes up too much. I'm about the only one that consistently posts in this thread. Every once in a while someone will post something. But go back 10 pages or so and 90% of the posts are me just keeping the thread alive. I'm all for talking about the game though so I'm glad you guys have come in. It's the only game that I know almost every single detail of.

 

I see haha. Well, I don't know a whole lot about the game, and I haven't played in a few weeks, but I will see about picking it back up pretty soon especially with the new position that I have at work that is significantly slower than the last.

I'm on xbox, by the way, and have been on Destiny since Destiny 1, Day 1. Not sure if they are even doing cross-platform play yet

 

I would agree with that but I disagree that the game gets repetitive. The game is repetitive if you make it repetitive. Yes... If all you do is run strikes then yeah, I would get bored with it quickly. But I'm a completionist and I like to try to get every single Triumph completed because that's just me. You and I played Diablo III for quite a while and talk about grinding? That's all we did was grind in that game because that's what that game is about. Destiny really isn't that much different. Your always looking for the best armor / weapon stats that you can find. For quite a few exotics there is a clear path to getting them so no real grind there. Running Dares of Eternity over and over? Yeah, I suppose that could be considered a grind. But it's fun, quick, and if you want to farm for the god rolled BXR there is no better farm in the game for any weapon released. The new dungeon is a lot of fun and I've got a god rolled 1000 Yard Stare out of there (the one I used in the sniping video from Trials this last weekend) but I'm still farming for the god rolled Eyasluna which still eludes me. And when you run out of things to do? Start a new character. Hell... I just started a Titan after 3 years of running a WL and Hunter. I've had a lot of fun playing with the crayons while running him. It's a completely different playstyle.

Play PvP. If you want the most dynamic experience you can get out of Destiny, PvP is where you'll find it. No two games are the same as opposed to Strikes, NF's, Raids, Dungeons, etc... I'll never accept the "I suck at PvP" excuse. If you don't like PvP I completely accept that. But if you do like it (or would like to actually compete) you have to play consistently to improve. When I stared playing I wasn't great but I wasn't terrible. When Trials came out though, it let me know just how bad I sucked against other players that were "CLEARLY" way better than I was. So I practiced until I got good. Going to the Lighthouse seemed unattainable for about a year. Then everything clicked and I've only missed one weekend going to the Lighthouse since Trials was reintroduced.

So there is always something to do in the game. You just have to figure out what you want to go for?

*EDIT* Oh... and Fuck Gambit. They can take that shit out of the game.

As far as grind goes, since getting back last Sept I've been chipping away and getting my light level up. I'm currently @ 1346 but my bro is @ 1362! I have a lot of catching up to do. But I do like to get to lvl 1350 to start doing Grandmaster NF again. That's where the adept version are are at and is soo worth grinding for.

I do no need to do some raid to get more raid tokens so I can pick up the damn anarchy, I know it's not the best anymore but it's more for the principle of having it,, the one weapon that has eluded me but almost everyone picked up during the raid, it almost made me quit the game. But if it wasn't for my son to shoot the breeze with and have D2 as our bonding moments, it is why I'm back. Lol

 

I have the master GOA final boss CP if anyone here is interested in finishing it with me. Hoping to get a good loot out of it since it's a master. I'll be on tonight and put out my bungie ID if anyone is interested. It's not hard AF but the ads and getting shot once gets pretty annoying. Lol

 

Depending on the weather here, I may be on this afternoon/evening. If the rain holds off, I gotta do some work around my new house.

 

I keep all my videos as "unlisted" on Youtube. Two reasons:

1: I do a lot of photography / videography work for real estate and send them the links when I'm done editing them. Once they pay me I don't own the video anymore so I keep everything unlisted.

2: I just put the Destiny videos in a separate unlisted section of my channel. If I wanted to create videos for just Destiny I'd make a seperate channel. But Youtube is saturated with Destiny content and I don't feel like messing with the "made for kids or not" portion of Youtube so it's just easier to keep them unlisted and link them where I want them. We cuss way too much in all our videos so I'd have to make every video 18+ and it just isn't worth fucking with.

As far as playing with other platforms... I'll play with anyone whether it be PS, Xbox, or PC. What I won't do is play against a PC player in PvP. M&K is a far superior input device than a controller and those that are truly good with M&K will outplay you everytime. I do like that Xbox and PS can play against each other in PvP though. It has opened up the player base so much more than it used to be. Each weekend I was consistently running against the same teams in Trials. That isn't necessarily a bad thing as I got to know quite a few people that played Trials because we'd square off against each other every weekend. But it's nice having a broader player base now that crossplay has been added.

As far a level goes? Anything past 1330 base power level is just a number. Doesn't mean anything. As long as all your equipment is 1330 you will put out the same base damage numbers that I am and I'm sitting at 1367. The artifact doesn't give you more power or damage. As long as your base power is the 1330 on everything, if you and I shot the same add in the game we would put out the exact same damage number. The artifact is a false number. Same thing with the season number next to your character (though, those two numbers are tied together with your artifact). My season pass is sitting at 740 something. Doesn't mean anything. It's just a reflection of how much I play.

Don't let the Anarchy nerf fool you. It's still a top tier weapon. It's still the best weapon that puts out damage over time. But due to this seasons artifact mods, Fusion Rifles and Linear Fusion Rifles are king. I've got a feeling that once next season comes out it will be focused around RL's with the reintroduction of GH. But if the artifact ever goes back to Grenade Launchers? You will see a rise again of Anarchy usage.

 

Master GoA isn't much harder. You just have Champions you have to deal with, with a locked loadout. I run Arbalest and Reeds Regret and a Pulse Rifle while running Master. Abarlest will pierce a Barrier Champion's shield by default so you don't need anti barrier mods installed in your armor. The adds hit harder so you have to constantly take them out on the final boss since they are more of a nuisance than anything. I honestly think the Ogre fight is harder than the final boss in GoA. The only annoying thing about the final boss is the fucking sniper shank and the other add that you have to take out before you can start depositing engrams.

 

A couple things to consider going into next season in Feb. Weapon crafting will be a thing. Not exactly sure how weapon crafting will work yet as they have been pretty tight lipped about it. But I assume it will work much like armor crafting does right now. The other thing to consider is the Void Subclass is getting a complete rework (much like Stasis is set up right now). You will be able to mix and match Artifacts and Fragments to make the class your own depending on how you want to play (like Stasis is set up right now). Want a Shatterdive WL? You can have that lol. Since the nerf to Shatterdive (and it needed one badly and I main a Hunter btw), it's still great for getting out of the air quickly if you are taking damage while in a jump. WL's intrinsically float more than the Hunter so having the ability to dive to the ground without being locked into the Solar Subclass and running Phoenix Dive will be a good addition. So I'm looking forward to seeing how they rework the Subclasses. Void is first but over the following seasons, Arc and Solar will get the same rework. I'm curious as to all the different builds that people come up with. It obviously gives the game even more depth.

I have to admit that I'm in love with the cooldown changes in PvP. I'd say that 90% of the Trials matches I played last weekend, no one was able to get their super. You have to remember that most Trials rounds are over within a min. Since you don't passively gain super energy like you used to. The only way to gain super energy is to actually get in a gunfight and either give or receive damage. I only had a handful of matches where we were able to get our super. And those matches were close matches that went to the wire on a 4-4 match. I'm still able to take advantage of running Arc Souls on the WL with Getaway Artists and running double bomber mods on my class item to constantly have them up. But the nerf to Shatterdive is welcome. Even though I main a Hunter and used Shatterdive (and felt guilty about it) it needed a nerf badly. But, if you want to win, you are going to use whatever is put in the game to allow you to win. Playing in Control or any 6v6 mode, you should only get one super per match as opposed to 3-4 like it was before. If you are slaying out you "might" get 2 supers but the last one will come at the very end of the match.

 

Everyone in the Clan has been giving me shit since I started playing a Titan lol.
