That's great. Having the tune not work with adaptive was a non-starter for me. Do you recommend the XT tune for a basically stock truck with factory size tires and TRD Pro 4Runner wheels, or is it overkill unless you are carrying extra weight?

Thank you @FlickFrack for stopping by for a tune! 2018 Pro AT on the Pro+XT, normal throttle setting. Awesome truck and it was great to hang out, talk some shop and meet Ares

I’d go with the XT hands down. Are you AT or MT?

I’d go with the normal throttle setting. Try it out and see how you like it. We can go up or down from there. Try out all 3.

Another cool thing about AT’s with ECT. Regardless of what throttle setting you choose, ECT throws it right to sport so you have the best of both worlds.

Well, this removes all my objections about the tune itself :) Now I just have to weigh the pros of the tunes vs the risk of a potential warranty issue. I'm sort of risk adverse lol.

Nothing wrong with that! Dealerships aren’t able to detect the tune.

It’s also just as easy to put the stock tune back in it should you ever want to.

It's not the dealership that concerns me. I know the ECU ID doesn't change so if the dealer plugs the truck in, it will come up as a stock tune. What worries me is having a major engine issue and Toyota digging into the ECU. They will be able to tell. I guess I'm a bit gun shy because I had a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee threw a CEL at 200 miles and ended up needing a cylinder head replaced. So while the odds are pretty low and I get that this truck isn't a Jeep, it's still a bit concerning :)

I can vouch for this, got tuned yesterday and used adaptive on the way home. Worked great.

Stopped by @JDSmith yesterday for a tune, a bit of a ride coming from MA, but 100% the best decision.

Good to meet you guys up there.

Huge difference, and only about 200 miles in as of yet, MPG actually went up by 0.7mpg on the way home from the shop, I'll report back with more after a few tanks.

Also, AGM alternator setting, saves me from topping off the battery.

Anyone on the fence, best decision yet. Happy to answer any questions for anyone on a customer side! Jesse is a good dude. 100% recommended.

    Thanks again.

You have a 2018 so I realize you are past the bumper-to-bumper warranty. You don't have any concerns with the powertrain warranty and the tune? Just asking cause that's the only thing holding me back.

I honestly don't. @JDSmith can probably answer this differently or better, but from what I understand, dealerships cant even tell if there is a tune or not, and you can always flash it back to stock if necessary.

Full disclosure... My brother is a mechanic at a Toyota dealership.

I appreciate the response. I did mention it to @JDSmith and he said the same thing. My only concern is if there is a major engine issue and Toyota starts digging into the ECU. I realize the dealership won't know the difference otherwise.

    Yeah, I get that.

I guess the basic answer is no, I am not concerned about that.

But totally up to you obviously. I'd absolutely recommend it on a performance/pleasure side.

How much are the tunes and where is the shop located? I just moved to Essex so I’m local.
