I have aa 2009 Tacoma access cab SR5. The lens on both running lights have burned and cracked. I called the dealer and they basically said "that's tough, you have to replace the entire headlight assembly on both sides".

Has anybody else had this problem and is there a less costly fix?

Pretty common problem from what I read, and if your out if warranty, then IIRC, your on your own.

Both of my daylight/running light are cracked and separated, and when I brought it to the dealer after 3 years they told me that maybe you replace the bulb with high wattage bulb, which I did not... I can't do anything but to save for replacement.

There's a thread in the Lighting Forum regarding the recall. Lots of guys having success getting new headlights. That piece is replaced with a glass piece.
